I would highly HIGHLY recommend Powerhouse to anyone looking to improve their health and fitness, both in terms of strength and cardiovascular stamina. However, Powerhouse is much more than just a place to get strong. I’ve lived in Thame for over 17 years and being a member of Powerhouse has given me the community I’ve always wanted, as I’ve found lots of other likeminded people who I now call my friends. The staff put on various special fun events throughout the year that are great to take part in and always end with a beer and a chat. I should also give a special mention to the coaches, who are first class. The way Powerhouse works is that you are all assigned a personal coach who gives you specific one-on-one advice, but then classes are run by a selection of coaches all of whom will give you advice and encouragement during your session. I have great admiration for each of the coaches, all of whom live and breathe functional fitness. I’ve trained alongside several of the coaches which has been a great (and often humbling!) experience. The relationship with coaches is so different from a commercial gym, all of which makes the culture much more positive. I could bang on about how brilliant Powerhouse is for much longer. Powerhouse performance academy is a performance club for teenagers providing expert gym coaching ond bespoke individualised programmes. The coaches focus on safety and getting the basic movements e.g. squats, press ups etc right. All strength work and lifting is appropriate to the teen’s development stage and completely safe. The coaches can also provide specific sports related performance enhancements e.g. our son plays basketball and his vertical jump, speed and agility on the court have all improved since training with Powerhouse. It’s been great for his confidence, his overall fitness and power. No matter what your starting point is, all your ever asked is to turn up and give it your best shot and, with that commitment, you start seeing amazing results. The six-week challenge provided me with the structure to build an achievable workout routine that could fit around my day and allowed me an opportunity to learn about the importance of good nutrition so that I could make better choices when it came to food. From day one I have received nothing but encouragement and support from the team at Powerhouse. Each time I hit a milestone, or achieved a new personal best, the trainers were there telling me that they knew I could do it. When I first started I was so worried that I didn’t know anyone and that everyone had a better level of fitness than me, I needn't have worried! Everyone at Powerhouse is so friendly and encouraging, from the trainers to the members, and everyone genuinely wants to see you achieve your goals and do your best, it’s unlike anywhere else in the area. Hell yes, this October I completed a half marathon Spartan Beast race, something that would of been unthinkable 6 months earlier. I followed this up with a 6k Spartan sprint at Twickenham Stadium, over coming obstacles that would of simply been Impossible to comprehend in 2018.This has just inspired me to push myself further and further, harder and harder and next year I intend to run a Spartan beast in April as a warm up for my nemesis in October, the Spartan Trifecta weekend, A tough mudder half Marathon followed by a 10k, followed by a 5k in aid for help to hero’s.Whilst the thought of the best part of a 37k tough mudder (over 40 obstacles) in two days does scares me, knowing how far I have come over the last 12 months and that anything is possible if you want it enough, will ensure I cross the finish line.I have learnt that you can always find a reason to, give up, fail or not to do it. This would of happened on the Sparten when I hit that wall just 4k in, however Darrens words stuck in my head” you will hit a wall and when that happens you will hurt the next day, the choice is whether you ache and proud of what you achieved, or ache and regretting giving up. That single piece of advice got me through the next 18k and over the line.Every time I hit a wall I remember why I started on this journey in the first place, and that feeling I felt when I cross the finish line, it’s that positive attitude that will see me cross the line next October.I have made some wonderful friends, and we support and encourage each other at every session, never has the saying “teamwork makes the dream work” been truer!None of this would of been possible with out the training and support from Josh, Liam, Darren or Francesca.. I am just coming to the end of the 6week transformation programme with powerhouse and it is honestly the best thing I have ever done to improve my physical fitness. I love it so much and I couldn't imagine giving that up-so I am returning for the next programme. When I first started I could only lift 4kg weights over my head...the bar seemed impossible. I am now lifting the bar and more. I also knew this would improve my running and sure enough I got a 10k PB. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and always ensure your form is correct. They also make sure they work to your personal goals and push you along the way. The change in my figure in 6 weeks has been so much more than I expected. But most of all it is my mindset. Since April, the numbers have swollen as it becomes more and more popular, but all newbies are welcomed and gently introduced to the sessions.... If you like being outside as I do, and you like training, getting fit and losing weight, this is the place for you. Not only do they have varied sessions in terms of cardio, strength and conditioning and box fit, they also advise on diet. Through the summer they held nutrition seminars to assist us all in our goal to lose weight and be healthier. So, get yourself along, they run sessions everyday and the first one is free! Less

For me this Bootcamp is definitely a place for any individual who wants to improve there health and fitness, no matter your goal, sport or focus.
