I have been having the most amazing experience with Onyx Physical Therapy and Wellness. I started working with Joanna a few weeks ago for help with neuromuscular re-education and gait training. I went from couch to OCR athlete to Ultra runner in 2 and a half years, and my body didn't know how to catch up. I also have missing connective tissue and chronic pain, which makes movement and balance more challenging for me. Joanna has been patient and has taken the time to get to know me and create a personalized plan of action to help me keep racing, improve my form, and prevent a lot of the injuries I have had in the past. I am so excited that after my 33 mile trail race over the weekend, I don't have any injuries and I'm eager to keep training so I'll be ready for my next race. Joanna is very knowledgeable and takes time to not only teach me all of the movements, but also explain how they are going to help me get stronger and be a better athlete. I'm looking forward to continuing my physical therapy journey with Onyx and improving my running and strength.

I found Onyx Physical therapy through a friend after I injure my knee. After just an hour and half at the center I left with more Knowledge and hope for my recovery! I am already feeling much better and know that I will be back to my active lifestyle before I know it! The app is also super helpful and gives me videos of how to do my home exercises!!!! I’m so grateful for the support and platform at Onyx!

I can’t speak high enough of my experience with Onyx PT. After a full rupture and repair of my Achilles I had started physical therapy with a large PT group in the area. My progress there was stalling, and I felt passed around with no consistency week to week. I sought out Jac and Jo at Onyx, and after one session I knew I was in good hands. Jac was knowledgeable and personable and pushed me just far enough each session to make real progress quickly. The studio is well equipped and private and I genuinely enjoyed going each week. Onyx was able to give me my full mobility back and get me back to all my pre-injury activities quicker than expected. I’m so grateful and would highly recommend them to anyone.

I started PT with Jacqualynn to help me deal with chronic stiffness in my neck and was amazed to start feeling relief in the very first session!! I completed 6 sessions and I’m still experiencing long term relief by following the regimen she planned out for me. I met with Joanna after my endurance run because I have been having pain for weeks that I just couldn't figure out. She asked great questions and was quickly able to tell me what was causing my pain. Then she gave me some really simple and effective exercises to dig into the root cause. She was so compassionate and thorugh. It was such a relief and I can't say enough great things about my experience!!!

I saw Jo for hip pain. She was excellent in diagnosing what the problem was and showed me exercises that were easy for me to do on my own. She showed me proper technique for when I’m working out to prevent further injury. The clinic was so clean and nice and the music was spot on! I actually had fun haha!! Onyx Physical Therapy and Wellness is a first-rate PT facility. I came to them after I hurt my shoulder doing overhead press and it lingered for 5 months. I finally reached out to Jacqualynn from Onyx PT and she was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly knowledgeable and adept at diagnosing my injury and the best way to rehab my shoulder. Their technology platform, where they sent me videos of the exercises and stretches I should be performing, were very helpful and spot-on. After about 3-4 weeks, I felt a 90% improvement in my shoulder. Onyx PT uses a variety of modalities and all of them helped me recover from my injury. Moreover, their office is modern and beautiful and in the heart of downtown Encinitas. I cannot recommend Onyx Physical Therapy and Wellness enough...they are the absolute best!!

I was visiting from Sweden for 2 weeks surfing here and had some issues with my shoulder due to overuse, specially from paddling. They were so kind they took me in without having me book an appointment and gave me some tips and things to do before surfclass and in between classes. They also made me know WHAT probably caused my pain except from paddling when surfing. So happy I went there, bc they were honest about my shoulder and didn't seem to say things about it just bc I wanted to hear it (like that I should go surf and not care about the pain) but instead what I should do to make it better for the time I'm here. The place also was very inviting and had a good space for different types of recovering work and rehab/prehab. Different types of equipment, like weights and a pull up rack, as well. In 2015, I had a sports accident and ruptured my achilles tendon. After delayed surgery and follow-up physical therapy, I got to the point where I could walk without pain, but I limped badly. About a year later I saw my surgeon and he thought that my ankle was about as healed as it could get. I found it painful in my hips and ankle to walk more than a short distance. I avoided group activities where walking was involved. About 18 months ago I started working with Joanna at Onyx PT. We would go through a set of exercises about once a week and then I would practice at home based on her prescribed plan. I have noticed a significant improvement in my gait, have much more strength in my ankle, and the pain in my hips has vastly improved. I no longer avoid long hikes and walks. I have follow up sessions periodically to review my technique and make adjustments to exercises. Very happy I found Joanna!
