When they were seeding the lawn they even went above and beyond filling in other areas of my lawn and seeding those areas as well even though they weren't at the spot the work was done. I let Jose pick the plants and he did an incredible job selecting beautiful, low maintenance ones at my request.Every single crew cleaned up when they left each day and left my home in immaculate condition. They were also very careful with opening the doors and the gates making certain to keep my dogs safely in the house or yard.I have referred Goias to everyone that needs a solid contractor as I know they produce quality work, are fair in pricing and are very responsive. I had an exceptional experience working with Gil and his team at Goias Home Improvement. Gil, the owner, is the most professional, thoughtful and respectful contractor I have ever worked with. I initially called for my master bathroom renovation and also will be using Goias for several other projects including roof, gutters, and patio and deck. The work was a complete gut renovation of the bathroom, moving toilet and shower plumbing, adding a double vanity, tiling, custom shower, heated floors etc. Gil and his team executed it flawlessly. His initial estimate was the lowest of the 3 I received. He was also the most responsive and attentive. There was a sense of trust that I felt from day one. They started on the project the following week. Throughout the project he listened to ever concern I had, addressed them and was always open to changes and requests I had. Every worker that entered our house was respectful of our privacy and of the home. Gil responded thoughtfully to every phone call and text I sent him ( I can be a bit of a needy client). Gil came to the house to check up on the work frequently and communicate. While many contractors are overbooked and take on way more than they can handle it was clear that Gil managed the amount of work he could take on very well. When there was a small leak during the project Gil was here within minutes to evaluate and had someone fix it within an hour. The leak caused some water stains on the drop ceiling in the basement which was quickly replaced. There was a delay in the shower door, and Gil apologized and explained calmly what the issue was. One of the doors broke during the quality testing of the door. Gil also gave us a cheesecake made by his wife as a token of appreciation. It was delicious to say the least! Goias Home Improvement will be the only company I work with for future home renovation projects. They did high quality work, provided a great customer experience and communicated effectively. I almost feel guilty telling other people how pleasant my home improvement project was compared to the horror stories I have heard about other bathroom renovations. He came to our home a couple times and made us feel comfortable and confident in him and his crew, and his price was very good as well. He was very on top of scheduling inspections and different workers to come. There was never a time we were just waiting when something could be done, which did happen to us often on a past renovation (when we added rooms to our home). Gil talked to us often to make sure we were happy with the work going on. Marcos and everyone that came to our house was wonderful, even with our two little kids. At one point during construction, even though there was plastic up to prevent this, so much dust traveled into our family room and dining room. Gil went above and beyond by sending a cleaning crew over! We were so grateful and impressed by this. Ultimately everything came out exactly as we wanted. It's all perfect! There was only one mistake that occurred during the process, when a couple of the wrong pieces of tile were installed into the backsplash, and the tile installer was back the next day to fix it and now it is perfect. He was always available to answer our questions in a pleasant and professional manner. We live out of state but we were entirely comfortable with him having full access to the house without our presence. Mr. Ricardo assisted and advised us on materials and appliances in order to get maximum value for our investment and generally went above and beyond what was expected in all areas of the job. While we probably could have paid less to have the work done we always felt Mr. Ricardo's pricing was fair. Everything was carefully explained to us before the job was started, and we got exactly (and in some cases, more) than we paid for. In particular, he was able to completely renovate our kitchen for a very attractive price. There were some change orders, including some electrical work and repairing some stucco that had been water damaged. Gil was always very good at explaining the work that needed to be done and why the changes were necessary. Eddy was in charge of the worksite and the 5-6 guys they had on site. The men they hired were very pleasant and polite, although none of them spoke English so sometimes it was hard to communicate with them if Eddy or Gil were not there. The guys did a great job! They took off the roof down to the original oof, then got rid of all the debris and they put up a new membrane roof. It was hot, yucky work in the middle of the summer. We also had our hardwood floors refinished. It was a big job that required us to move out for a week while they did the work. They had to move our furniture out to the garage and to other parts of the house. We were out of town while they did the work and I completely trusted them. When we came home, we were very happy to see how the floors turned out. They don't even look like the same floors! The floors were clean and dust free. All the furniture was moved back. The bad: we wanted our kitchen done on a fairly tight timeline and it took about 5 weeks longer than anticipated. He made a couple of mistakes during construction (however he fixed them without additional cost). He is very specific... if things are not in the contract he wants to charge you with extras, so be very specific and make sure every thing is listed in the contract. I understand his position because he has to get numbers from his sub-contractors so its money out of his pocket if he was unaware the work needed to be completed (example food processor, door installation, window installation, molding, crown molding, installation of beede board, installation of back splash etc) Overall he was very easy to deal with and i felt completely safe with him in our house. Goias Home Improvement was very responsive in attempting to do this. The project required not only selecting a cooktop and downdraft system, but replacing the countertop, running a new gas line, changing the electric service from 220v to 110v and modifying the cabinet. Goias brought in plumbing personnel, ducting personnel, electricians and recommended an appliance supplier to attempt to accomplish this. Unfortunately our center island is very narrow limiting our options for equipment. As we did not want to expand the project into replacing cabinetry and rearranging the kitchen we decided to take a different direction. Less

My condo was destroyed during Sandy, and I needed everything rebuilt after the unit was gutted. Gil's crew were neat, efficient, reliable. His price was on the high end, but the workmanship was definately of superior quality. Here's the problem, and why I would never use them again: I had flooding from an upstairs neighbor, which Gil alerted me to immediately. I had my insurer come out and assess the damage (extensive - demo, mold remediation, sheetrock repair in hallway and bathroom area). I had asked Gil to open two sheetrock squares so that the inspector can inspect the damage. I was given a choice for the remodel, and Gil's estimate came in twice as high as the insurer's contractor. At this point, I chose to go with the other contractor. After I had paid this man over $25,000, Gil/Goias are now hounding me for $160 for cutting out those two sheetrock holes. Away on business, after inspecting the insurer's contractor's repair (excellent in quality as well), I noticed some original issues with Gil's work (minor paint / grout / caulking) which, if fixed, would warrant that $160 that I would otherwise need for a handyman for an hour or two of labor. Gil/Goias showed up and immediately started bad-mouthing my insurance inspector and the remediation job. He said that the paint patching (not in the area of the flooding damage) WAS subject to mold and should have been removed as well. The grout was due to 'Settling' and not his concern. And he demanded $160 for those two small holes his worker cut out (he called this demolition work). Please, save yourself one big headache, and work with someone else. Less

I like things clean and I fully expected to have to clean up after them every day but when I saw that they did it for me I was completely amazed to have found clean contractors. I have two small kids at home with me and having the house turned upside down for 6 days during a house project isn't easy but this crew made it perfectly manageable and frankly, delightful! One year prior GOIAS did a great job installing a beautiful hardwood floor on the first floor of my home. I wrote a detailed review on that experience. As luck would have it Hurricane Sandy flooded my first floor causing all sorts of damage. The one year old floor could have possibly just be refinished however my wife and I are expecting a baby in June and I didn't want to risk mold, etc. so I opted to replace the floor. Almost one year to the day Gil and his crew, the exact same set of guys from last time came and replaced the the floor. Gil as last time was easy to work with. Money needs to spent in so many places that I am doing my best to minimize all expenses. Gil understood that and I did the demo work removing the floor which reduced the cost a lot. Perhaps I cannot install a new floor but I do have the skill to pull one up! The same floor as last time was installed complete with opposing 45 degree angles in my living room and dining room. The stairs that were done last year were not damaged so were left in place. The new floor and the old floor (on the stairs) matched very well. In addition I had my second floor hallway done in the same flooring. Carpet will eventually be done in the bedrooms. Like last time the floor was installed unfinished and finished on site. That is my preference. They also added a coat of polyurethane to the stairs which had been through a lot with all the mess, etc. In addition the horrid linoleum floor in the kitchen needed to be replaced. Since I was having GOIAS tile the kitchen I also had them do the bathroom. Pulling up tile is tough so I left that to Gil's crew in the bathroom. They did a great job and jumped in to help when I wasn't able to remove the fridge from the kitchen myself. They went the extra mile and took off the doors and didn't charge extra. All the work came out perfect. There were no price overruns since Gil had his records of how much wood the floors took. Last time the 45 degree angles ate more flooring than expected but the cost was trivial. Again, I cannot say enough good about Gil and his team. Gil and his team are punctual, available for questions and advice all the time. I hope in a year or two to have Gil install the hardwood on my third floor. Less

I am so pleased with the work that Gil and his team - Eddie and Elton - completed for me. After a series of roof leaks, I contacted Goias Home Improvement and a number of other contractors in mid-August. Gil, the owner of Goias, immediately set up a time to come by to review the work I wanted to have done. He spent a lot of time with me and asked a lot of good questions, and I was inclined to work with him over the other contractors from whom I got estimates. While I was in the selection process, however, the roof leaks I thought had been repaired (by another roofing company I will not name) caused even worse damage than I already had - including causing a 3 foot whole in my upstairs hallway. I called each of the contractors from whom I had estimates, and Gil was there the next day to review the latest damage. Not only did he provide me with a reasonable revised estimate to complete all the work, but when I couldn't get the roofing company who had previously "repaired" the roof problems, he had his guys come over to look at the roof. His guys found the real cause of the roof leaks and replaced a series of shingles. After confirming that water was no longer coming in to the house from the roof, Eddie and Elton began the inside repairs when I was ready to move forward in October. Over the course of about 10 days, they tore down the entire hallway ceiling and then installed new drywall ceilings in the hallway and in two of my three bedrooms. They painted all three bedrooms, the hallway and the master bath - and they look perfect. I am so happy with their attention to detail - the work was done painstakingly well. Gil also had an electrician come in to reinstall a couple of ceiling lights and ceiling fans that were damaged. Eddie and Elton were very professional and very nice, and they were very mindful of protecting all my furniture, valuables, etc. and cleaning up after themselves while the work was in progress. Having just celebrated Thanksgiving, I must give thanks for Gil and his team - the work they did was truly excellent. I will definitely use them again when I'm ready to paint the entire downstairs and the rest of my house. I cannot say enough good things about Gil and Goias Home Improvement! The estimate was very acceptable and the time frame was great. The only issue I had was that we were told that they had samples of tile we could choose from, but that never happened. We went to Lowe's and bought our own tile and grout. It was fine. GOIAS replaced all of the missing drywall, replaced the frames in the area, replaced several interior doors, removed and replaced floor tiles and removed the carpeting, painted, and even removed extra drywall when more mold was found. The only other issue was that my parents live on the lower level, and we had wanted them to be able to stay when the floor tiling was being done. GOIAS said they could but it was really not an option so my parents went to a hotel. Part of the fault was ours, though, because I don't think we communicated exactly what they needed. That being said, the tile work was absolutely fantastic! And, because my parents left, their tile man was able to stay late and finish the layout in one night! Everything looks great. They were very clean, and were right on schedule and on budget. They didn't do carpeting, but that's OK, I guess you can't do everything! Less

That's just how I like it done and it is a lot more work and some more money. Several potential vendors said they would quote what I wanted but then kept trying to push me to prefinished. They also tried to get me away from the 45 degree angles in the two main rooms or at least that was the feeling I had in a couple of cases. GOIAS priced it how I wanted, complete with the two rooms at opposing 45 degree angles.GOIAS did the work, came on time and paid attention to every detail. The stairs in particular were difficult and several neighbors who had hardwood done said the contractors told them stairs couldn't be done. I gotta be honest, some of my neighbors were pretty blown away by how good the work came out. They were the 2nd cheapest price and matched the cheapest to close the deal. There were slight over-runs on material but the 45 degree angles do cost a fair bit of material unless they start using lots of short pieces which is not my preference. I had no complaints with the overruns on cost and they were modest. All in all this took me a weekend to clear out the floor, remove the carpeting and about 250,000 small staples. That was fun. Not. I agreed to do that to help keep the cost down. It isn't a bad approach but is best done after the initial price sans pre-work has been established. Monday and Tuesday saw the floors laid and the stairs started. The stairs were done Wednesday. Sanding and staining were done Thursday. Friday and Saturday was the finish. I got to go home Sunday afternoon and put my life back together. However, my choice of floors finished on site added most of the time to the project. I have no regrets. On Monday they came and quickly replaced the spindles on the stairs. The owner Gil was fair, honest, accessible and flexible through the whole project. I accepted Goias? estimate based purely on price since all three were highly rated on Angie?s List and nothing negative came up during the estimate process. I ordered the new patio door (Andersen) from Lowe?s. In the meantime Goias? masons removed the old concrete slab and poured a new one, regrading in the process. There was a misunderstanding about the size of the new slab since it was supposed to be larger than the old one, but was poured the same size. A small matter, but no refund was offered since the larger amount of concrete was ordered and payed for even if not used. I didn?t get any complaints from my neighbors and the site was cleaned up well. When the door came in we arranged for a time for the installation. I wanted to be there when the work was done so I arranged to take the day off from work. The workers arrived at 11:30 and had to come back the next day to finish. The old door and rotten framing was removed. The rough opening was re-framed and the new door installed and exterior trim applied. The installation looked good. The exterior trim was neat and nicely finished. One red flag went up when there were some pieces of trim and hardware left over and the workers speculated about where they might go and why they weren?t needed. A quick look at the instructions (by me) solved that mystery. As luck would have it, the weekend after the installation we had a driving rainstorm. In the middle of the night I went down to the basement to check things out and there was a puddle of water on the floor and it was coming in under the new door. The next morning I called Goias and they assured me it would be made right, but they were working on a big job on Long Island and weren?t sure when then could get back. I insisted that it be fixed before it rained again and arrangements were eventually made for them to come on a Sunday. Additional caulking was added at the base on the exterior. I checked it with a garden hose a few days later and it appears to be watertight. Obviously, I would have preferred the job to have been done properly the first time, but if there are no further problems I will be satisfied. I wouldn?t use this company again and wouldn?t recommend them but my experience may have been the exception since they were so highly recommended. Less

So we are waiting for the insurance company to come as they had to pay for it. First the insurance company wanted to fix it and now when we send the estimate they want to just look at it so that’s why there is a delay in the project. I was going to go out of town by evening and needed to find someone to work on the same day (otherwise I would cancel the trip since the hole in the roof with exposed fan was deemed dangerous). Goais contractor agreed to send someone to inspect and determine what needs to be done. I have to take the worker's word that the attic fan is shot though it was only a year old. After that they went and got a new fan, fixed it, made sure the roof was OK around the installed attic fan and completed the work by 4 pm or so. They quoted the price of $500 and I paid that. They did not give me any paper work but did send me a picture of the installed fan area of the roof to my cell phone. Less

The process of getting the permits in place within my municipality was a bit of a pain but Gil took care of that part tho it seemed often because each municipal government is different there was some difficulty dealing with the differences (I blame the local government more then the contractor for having obscure rules contacts)We reviewed the project multiple times along with layouts, this included both his framer (Who was wonderful) and his tar and cement guy (less wonderful but competent)After the footings and poles were poured for the deck the deck went through the process of installation, The deck because of the nature of it being connected to the house requires many reviews and passes.Gil also arranged for gas line and electric install as well making it easier on myself and my wife.The deck was complete and done better then i expected.The driveway was completed soon after, but it seems after many times (at least 4x) reviewing the plans and measurements (These measurements were reduced due to changes to satisfy the municipality), there was a shortage in the amount of material and the 'change in the price' of the material that Gil plans to pass on to us. I don't believe i was obtuse at any point during the review of the plans as to the space requiring coverage. Nor did the price of petroleum (the prime element in asphalt) increase during the period in question.Later during the fence install there was rubbish left over, some can be picked up by the town (Trees, branches), however the construction material will need to be picked up by his men and I am waiting for it to be removed.Overall I question if the job was underbid for the quantity of work to be performed and the 'overages' are really genuine or to cover his underbid. the quality of work was very good, but I don't particularly enjoy the extra charges.
