It's good to know self defense."Joining Laguna Beach Dojo has been one of the best decisions our family has made for the kids and myself. The program is absolutely fantastic. I have seen tremendous growth in my kids development, both physically and mentally. Jeff was patient and kind to my son & taught him how to position himself, hits and kicks. My son felt shy @ first but totally got into the kicks and hits really good. Jeff gave hind hw about being disciplined as well

A Life-Changing Experience at Laguna Beach DojoWhat began as a fun spin-the-wheel giveaway during Laguna Beach's Halloween Trick-or-Treat event has blossomed into a meaningful passion for my daughter. From the very first class, it was clear that Laguna Beach Dojo was more than just a place to learn martial arts—it’s a place where character, discipline, and personal growth are just as important as physical technique.Having practiced martial arts myself as a child, I found myself truly impressed—and honestly a bit envious—of how this dojo is run. The structure, the accountability, and most importantly, the integration of family into the journey are what set this dojo apart. The senseis do an incredible job of involving parents in the development of their students, turning the black belt journey into a team effort between the child, their instructors, and their family.What truly stands out is that students aren’t just expected to demonstrate black belt behavior inside the dojo—they must live it outside as well. Together as a family, we set goals and character traits for our daughter to work on at home. These “black belt traits” become part of her daily routine, and though challenging at first, they’re now becoming second nature. The dojo tracks this progress, rewarding effort and consistency through belt tabs that help students qualify for their next rank.Beyond karate techniques, the dojo also offers leadership classes that help students grow not just as martial artists but as confident, respectful, and thoughtful individuals. As they say: better people make better leaders.I can honestly say this experience has had a lasting impact on our family.
