She was worse than when I got her. Was barely any proof of training and she was improperly fed, even though I gave her thorough instructions on how to feed her. The improper feeding burned the outside of my dog’s mouth, because of her powder.I also did individual training in the beginning and that wasn’t helpful much either. Trainer was also late, forgotten the scheduled appointment, and would have to reschedule plenty of times. I’ve wasted thousands of dollars on “professional training”.Was never refunded for this terrible experience and I haven’t trusted a trainer since. Midway through, I was informed there had been a parvo exposure, and the dogs needed to be isolated for 14 days. I understood the health concern, but this extended Koa’s stay to nearly a month. Then, less than 24 hours after we agreed on a return date, the trainer wanted to push it back another 5 days—claiming she still wasn’t ready. If a professional trainer can’t train a puppy to a basic level in nearly 5 weeks, that is a major red flag.Koa came back worse than when she left. She’s not potty trained. She doesn’t respond to basic commands like “sit” or “come.” She’s still extremely mouthy, and there’s been zero progress with leash training. In fact, she now shows increased anxiety and even reacts aggressively when tall men with beards walk by—something she never did before. Given that the trainer, Sherman, fits that exact description, I have deep concerns about how she was treated. I truly believe she may have been mistreated or even abused while in his care.The most heartbreaking moment was when he dropped her off. He had her on a different leash—one that was so tight around her neck that she threw up twice from gagging. Watching her vomit while being choked by the very person I entrusted with her care was gut-wrenching. No animal should be treated that way.Throughout the entire month, I received only four photos. The communication was minimal, the progress was nonexistent, and the emotional toll on both of us was enormous.I trusted this trainer to help Koa, and instead she came back more anxious, less trained, and fearful. Please reconsider before leaving your dog here. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.Update: It’s been two weeks since Koa came back home. I reached out several times to the facility to speak with someone and it has been complete silence since the trainer dropped her off. No one will return my calls or emails. Erin took Russell from a crazy, hyper young puppy to an intelligent, obedient and caring family member. Erin’s method of training encompasses positive reinforcement and pressure that enticed Russell to want to do better for me everyday. We adopted Russell back in 2002, he was 19lbs at 12 weeks so we knew he not going to be small, so control was priority. We ran the DNA on him and found that he was Bloodhound/Mountain Cur mix. Thank God we did because both were working and energetic breeds which explained Russell’s drive. In minimal sessions with Erin, Russell was looking forward to training and learning like I never have seen in one of my dogs before. I have owned large dogs my entire life and was of the world of negative reinforcement will get your dog into line. Erin’s training corrected not only my view but also ME as a dog owner. In many of our sessions Erin was correcting how I was handling Russell and showed me how I was skewing her training from success. Now Russell is 3yrs old (95lbs) and to this day when I get home, he runs to his training gear on the wall and bangs on it, barks at it to train with me. He LOVES training and I love training him still following Erin’s past guidance. One of my favorite and most rewarding behaviors that Erin trained Russell with is focusing on me. I use it all the time when I want him to ignore other dogs that are acting out around him. Those owners think that I do that because something is wrong with Russell. The jokes on them for sure. Reading the programs they offer and their reviews, I knew it was what Flynn needed. I filled out their online form and was contacted by Gina soon after who was great. She spent time with me on the phone listening to my laundry list of difficulties I was having. She matched me with Erin and set up the free consultation. During the consultation, Erin and I decided the best training program for Flynn would be the 3 week board and train program with the E-collar. Erin was thorough in explaining to me why Flynn was exhibiting the behaviors he was, the details of the program, and reassuring me that this was the best choice. After that, I felt confident and comfortable Flynn would be in excellent hands and that this program was necessary for him.Due to his separation anxiety and being a bit fearful of strangers, I figured it may take him longer than other dogs to settle in, and it did. Erin offered to count his first week as boarding so that she could fully spend 3 weeks working with him. She sent me updates throughout his training and some photos/videos. I sorely missed my boy for the month, but knowing he would be coming back improved made the wait worth it. When he was dropped off, Erin stayed with me for over an hour walking me through what all he has learned and answering all of my questions. It took him a few days to get settled back in so she she showed me how to correctly use the prong collar then came for a follow up visit a week later to show me how to use the E-collar.It has been a month since Flynn has been home and like the other reviews say, the training is like magic. Flynn no longer pulls, is not reactive towards people and dogs, resource guards less, his separation anxiety has improved with little to no barking, he is able to still play and cuddle with my roommate’s dog without becoming dominant, and he typically listens to commands the first time. Of course the training still continues in the home, but I feel confident that with the tools provided to me Flynn will only improve from here. Any questions or updates I have for Erin she is always prompt and responsive to. She also offered to come back for follow up visits if needed, especially since I will be moving from an apartment into a house over the summer which will be a big change for Flynn. I greatly appreciate knowing that even though the program is over, I still have Erin as a resource if needed.I highly recommend Cornerstone K9 and Erin to anyone. If you’re on the fence like I was, do it. It is so worth it and you will not regret it. My family and friends have also been so impressed with how Flynn is doing. Flynn and I are no longer frustrated because we can now understand each other and communicate better. If there are any failures in my dog's training, they are my own because I'm slack about reinforcing as often as I should. We asked multiple times about the group classes, but unfortunately, we never received information about the location of these classes. Then, we asked about follow-up private training sessions, emphasizing that the ecollar approach wasn’t working for us. The email response continued to emphasize the use of the ecollar.We felt like we weren’t listened to at all and they kept pushing the same training methods that didn’t work. We understood the theory behind the ecollar, but it was just masking our dog’s anxiety. When it wasn’t effective for us, we wished they had more flexibility to try a different technique or another trainer. Now we have to spend more money and start over with a different training service. Our dog has some complicated health concerns, and Sierra is an absolute gem. She really helped us to see what is "normal" but also how we can modify things to make them fit our lifestyle and what is best for our pup. We highly recommend Cornerstone K9!Our sweet girl, Noir, has an absolute cocktail of health problems- she's a rescue from a hoarding situation and when we adopted her as a puppy, she had some GI upset and a UTI that they thought would settle with antibiotics. Except the UTI wouldn't go away and if it did it always came back and her stomach has always been sensitive... Our pup was going to the bathroom 17x a day. This was our first puppy, as our first dog was an adult when we brought her home, so we didn't know what was normal for potty training. We felt like we were failing her both in health and potty training. We were working with our vet closely trying different foods, feeding schedules, and constantly testing for UTI's and other conditions. I think she was at the vet almost every week!After a scary week at NC State Emergency and Internal Medicine where we didn't know if Noir would be able to come home, we found out she has spinal fluid in her brain which caused some under development and difficulty with her bladder.She was off to a late start on a lot of training because we had to prioritize her health over socializing etc. We couldn't get her spayed until she was over a year old due to some anatomy defects the vet wanted to wait out.Sierra entered the picture when our pup was around 1- 1.5 years old. Our first dog had recently passed and Noir wasn't handling it well. She had always had some barking issues in our small fenced yard but she had started to bark all hours of the night and was showing a lot of unrest. That coupled with our struggles potty training and we knew it was time to call!I called and had a detailed conversation with Cornerstone and based on that they knew Sierra would be the right trainer to connect us with. They also advised that due to Noir's behaviors at home training would be best for her. Right from the start we immediately felt at ease. Sierra had such a special way with Noir. Noir absolutely loved her! Sierra was able to explain Noir's body language and the cause of the barking in the yard and we troubleshooted ways to go about it. Another trainer had previously told us Noir was scared when she was actually just trying to Alert us that there's stuff in the yard and by looking at her, we didn't realize we were enabling her behavior!We had a lot of things to learn with Noir and over 5 lessons, Sierra adjusted as needed for Noirs learning capabilities and aptitudes! I'm not going to say Noir never barks now or that she doesn't potty in the house. We realized after trying everything that potty training just won't be 100% with her little body and health, but it's significantly better than before. Sierra helped remove a lot of guilt we had as pet parents and helped reassure us of the right steps to take. We are so incredibly thankful to her! We now have the tools to help Noir feel more confident and secure at home and it's up to us to keep building on it! Less

Even after the training, she’s been very responsive with follow-ups, despite being incredibly busy working with other dogs. That level of dedication really stood out to us. The Results? Nothing Short of Amazing. Apollo understands boundaries now. No more sock-stealing. No more rock-eating. No more emergency vet visits. And the biggest shock? I was repotting my plants—something that used to be a disaster with Apollo munching on dirt and small rocks. This time, I told him “No” once. Just once. And he walked away and never bothered it again. I was stunned. More Freedom, Less Stress. The biggest change? Peace of mind. We can finally cook in the kitchen without guarding every ingredient like a hawk. I don’t have to watch him every second, wondering if he’s about to eat something dangerous. The sentence I keep saying is: “I can’t believe he won’t do that anymore.” And because he’s so much better behaved, he actually has more freedom. We’re still reinforcing the training, but honestly? I think he’ll be ready for full independence soon. Now, instead of getting into trouble, he looks to us for guidance and makes good choices on his own. Highly recommend !! We started with Cornerstone k9 in September 2024 with our 2.5 year old standard schnauzer for reactivity. She had gone to puppy classes and daycare that trained her, but she acted completely different with us. My husband and I were exhausted by her and starting to go crazy. Relaxing walks were impossible with Pippa as she lunged and barked at bikes, dogs, runners… she didn’t listen to us. She would go crazy on our balcony if another dog walked by. Her barking was getting impossible and I was fed up with “positive reinforcement training”. My dog was too smart for that. We met with Jordyn and within the first session she was able to reassure us that Pippa’s body language told her that she’s not an aggressive dog, she’s barking because she’s scared. Within one month of working with Jordyn, Pippa was a completely different dog. Attentive, relaxed on walks, and much less barky. I tell people that working with a dog trainer is just as much to help train you. Jordyn was so good at explaining the psychology of Pippa and why she’s doing something. Then from there, helping us learn tricks and tools to shift her focus, and had us practicing with her. Over time, Pippa understood that Jordyn was a dog trainer and would behave well with her and then differently with us. So I was able to send Jordyn videos of Pippa throughout the week showing what we were struggling with and she’d give us tips and talk us through what to do in those situations at our next meeting. It’s so beneficial working with a dog trainer because you become more aware of other dog owners and what they’re doing or not doing correctly. So it helps you better assess situations to help keep your dog safe and set them up for success. It has been so helpful! We opted to train in person rather than boarding. So far we’ve only had 5 sessions with her and we’re seeing such a big difference with our little girl. I have a Cane Corso (Drako) who my wife and I took in our home after our neighbor passed away. The thing is, Drako was very aggressive towards people and other dogs and lacked basic obedience. Luckily we had gone over their home plenty of times and Drako is fine with me and my wife. We tried all that we could to address the aggression issue at home, but we live very busy lifestyles, and found it very difficult for people to volunteer their presence to socialize an aggressive Cane Corso (understandably so...). We couldn't take Drako anywhere and we dreaded having company over. Its been quite the emotional roller coaster. Nonetheless we decided to give Cornerstone a shot and from the second Gina picked up the phone, to the moment we received Drako back, I had nothing short of a great experience. The trainer updated us daily on Drako's progress and made sure that when we did the handoff, that my wife and I were set up for success. Usually when dealing with allt of these dog training companies, I feel like they are clueless as to handle a dog like Drako without using harsh/abusive methods....Im 100% positive that Drako had a blast. He absolutely adored the trainer and even made great friends with the trainer's personal dogs. Fast forward 1 week later, we decided to introduce Drako (on leash) to the outside area of our local dog Park --we like to go to Riverside. Drako was a little weary at first so we even facetimed the trainer, who actually picked up the phone and walked us through it in real time. Im so glad we did that because, my wife and I are not dog trainers and could have easily undone Drako's progress. Long story short, we have had our boy back for 3 weeks and we are at the point where Drako is perfectly neutral and calm around people and the crazy dogs at the dog park....Simply blown away by the company and the results! I am very upset with the ”training” my dog received. I had my dog signed up for a dog board and training program - it was half puppy and half on leash training for two weeks. When the trainer picked my dog up she said she would update me as much as I wanted and she even spoke about how some clients would ask to receive less text updates from her. In my experience I didn’t receive a text back for two days….i am normally passive so I waited to hear a response for a couple days which I completely regret. I ended up calling and she stated she didn’t hear my text and answered questions. She also said she would provide me a list of toys that would provide stimulus for my dog which was never sent. When I had called she asked if she could change the day of the pick up from Sunday to Monday - I agreed. Right before pick up she got into an accident… I picked my dog from the accident and that’s where she decided she would do the training to go home. Fast forward to when she got home and nothing changed my dog wasnot potty trained, she didnt know commands except for sit which I had already taught her and not trained around cats. I spent 2,000 dollars. After she came back for a total of 15 min to follow up and didn’t really teach me anything. My dog kept barking in the cage and I asked for help with this and she suggested a bark collar that I buy through them and it was 10 dollars more than the actual cost of it if I were to buy online. She also said she would come help train my dog with this collar and never followed up with that. If I am paying this much I expect to be updated about my dog that’s been sent there and also for at least a little progress. Obviously not looking for perfection but just so disappointed I spent my money here when I should have gone somewhere else. It’s been almost a year since I first got into contact with cornerstone k9 and I feel like I’m finally ready to talk about my poor experience now that I have a new dog that I would never even consider using this company for which I definitely will be hiring a trainer so just shows how much I don’t want to work with them. When I contacted cornerstone k9 it was to do the 2 week puppy package and said my puppy learns commands very quickly so mostly he needs to work on holding those commands, finish potty training and most importantly not jump. They said no problem and I would be working with Jeff the owner and Chris who works out of their main facility. First switch up I received was that I would be working with Gina instead (who wasn’t even listed as one of the companies trainers). While my dog was at his board and train I started to feel uneasy about some of the updates I was getting regarding potty training including that he had 2 accidents in the crate because she left him too long. And then also the attached photo about potty training. Teaching a 5 month old dog to be potty trained is a training they should be able to do and said they’d be able to do when I initially contacted instead of then being told we just need to watch them. EVERY actual potty trained dog knows how to notify their human they want to go out. When I did get him back at the drop off they have a session and I didn’t even know what to say when they dropped him off because he didn’t even listen to her during that with the commands and the jumping was still so bad. I was so disheartened that it took me a few days but I contacted back with all my concerns that progressed into having Jeff come to my house and he want listening to him either so they took him back for a week. In that week I’d say he did come home being able to hold commands better but I was provided this video where you can see Jeff coaching Gina on how to train. If my dog was going to be the guinea pig to teach Gina to become a trainer I should have been made aware because I paid for a top tier trainer. As for the jumping they said they worked on having him in a place command before people entered the room to work on jumping. That doesn’t help him not jump people are coming and going from my house and I take my dog out in public I wanted my dog not to jump on people and they said they could but their version of that isn’t teaching him not to jump but to have him on a place command that’s not realistic and asking a trainer to help a dog know not to jump isn’t an unrealistic ask. Eventually the conversation got so heated that I was put in contact with the manager Megan to introduce him to an off leash training collar. I don’t have a bad experience with Megan but also my dog is over 1 years old and still jumps on anyone that walks in the door. During training I just got a lot of “well he’s just a puppy” but why have a puppy program if you don’t expect a puppy to retain that. I did a lot of research and read a lot of google reviews before selecting this company so this is for the 20 something year old doing the same. I have completely trained my dog to be off leash with recall but the basics this company was supposed to teach are still issues like jumping he definitely does on anyone in my house and he tries out in public but prong collar, he will pull me on leash without his prong collar, and of course he’s potty trained now but they didn’t really do anything to help with that. I can’t vouch for any of the other programs but the puppy program is a joke. Less

Jeff clearly treated Azrael like family while he was there, and made some magic happen in the little time he had Azrael with him. When he left, he would not walk on a leash without biting me and/or the leash. He came back a new puppy, with manners on walks that he did not have prior to his board and train program at Cornerstone. Jeff, the owner of the company, opted to train Azrael himself, rather than have one of his other trainers complete the program. At the end of the program, Jeff consulted with me and answered a plethora of questions along with offering insight to my dog's specific needs. Azrael came home with some new equipment, and health supplements from Jeff to get him started off right so he grows up big and strong, while staying lean and healthy. Jeff trained with me and Azrael in our home environment and our neighborhood, tackling some specific issues that arose as we walked to the dog park. At the end of the drop off training, I was armed with knowledge and confidence that I could keep up with Azrael's training, since Jeff worked so hard these past weeks to set him up for success. Azrael was a bit sad to see his adopted family/trainer leave after the drop off training session. I hope to visit Sanford to start participating in other training programs soon, and I have the off-leash program on my list of next upcoming programs for Azrael. High drive breeds need more than a walk through the neighborhood, and Jeff knows the limitless potential can turn to destructive energy if you aren't consistent and if you don't use the right tools for the job. If you want a well behaved puppy/dog, even if you have a challenging breed, Cornerstone K9 should be your first stop. We have had zero issues with aggression in the year since her training. I can now walk her with my pinky finger and my cats are safe again. He came home so much better than before and she was able to teach me all the exercises and tools to set him up for success.
