Before attending Fasting to Feel Good, I was extremely defeated with my binge eating disorder. I had conquered alcoholism and drug addiction, but food was the one thing that was holding me prisoner. I spent years in the gym, dieting, tracking calories, only to continue to gain weight, feel hungry, exhausted, and at times, ready to give up altogether. I was initially skeptical when I encountered Heather through word of mouth. I was full of preconceived notions that fasting couldn’t be healthy, especially for long periods of time. However, I was desperate and ready for a change, no matter what it took. So I began Heather’s fasting group, just to try. I initially started fasting for 14 hours, and quickly moved to longer fasts once my body felt ready. Heather provided education that completely shifted my feelings around food and my thoughts about myself and my body. Fasting and the nutritional tricks Heather taught me now are a part of my daily life- I don’t even have to really think about it. Since starting Heather’s group 3 months ago, I have lost 27 lbs. I have control over food, I can have a bag of chips in my cupboard and not eat all of them in one sitting finally. I don’t have to hide food and shame myself for all the wrappers after the binge. My body feels strong and light, and my mind feels clear and positive, finally.
