Popped in for the first time last night. Great service and great food. I was expecting a standard pub meal but it really was very good indeed. I had bangers and mash - good quality sausages and three of them so very generous (my husband was pleased to have one) the mash and gravy lovely and the brocolli sprouts cooked well with just enough bite. My husband had the stuffed partridge and he said it was incredibly tasty. Cheese and biscuits a delight as was the ice-cream!! (Brown bread ice-cream - loved it) and the bill was very reasonable. Book a table, it's too quiet there on a Thursday - this place should be bustling it's so good!!!! We will be back soon.

Incredible food, giant portions and reasonable price!This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host, and I'm so glad it was. The pub is very beautiful, with the decor and insides being just what you want from a classic country pub.The food was unreal; I had the plaice for main that was delicious and massive, the truffle fries were incredible (and another giant portion). Sometimes when places serve huge portions they're making up for sub-standard food, but the food here was incredible and very generous. Even the whitebait for starter probably could've been a main for one (and that chive mayo was unreal!). Everything we ate was delicious and I would love to come back and sample more dishes on the menu if I'm ever back in the area.I don't know if it's because I'm from London but I felt the prices were very reasonable, with a bottle of local wine for £30 and my huge fish main for £19.Server came across a bit grumpy but honestly the food was so amazing it didn't really matter (and she may have been having an off day!).

Very nice. Gressingham Duck breast with figs and tender stem broccoli and chips cooked in goose fat. Probably the best chips I've ever had... simply wonderful texture and flavour. The "Cordon-bleu" style fruity sauce was yummy too. Duck was good for me but my missus wouldn't be able to eat it as it was cooked a bit rarer in the middle (she likes her duck well cooked) and no-one asked how I wanted it cooked. It was just assumed that everyone wants it cooked in the French style. Will definitely return here though; just a shame they're not open Mon, Tue & Wed.

A really fantastic lunch. A beautiful old pub, with lots of warmth and charm. Everything we had was delicious, and we were pleasantly surprised when the bill came, at what good value our meal was.

We booked this restaurant while traveling through Kent, on our way to Leeds Castle. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic.The service was remarkable. I was even offered a taste of the beers before making my choice.The food was just as impressive; a true delight from start to finish. Without a doubt, the best restaurant of our entire trip.Bravo from France!

Shout out to the fireworks display! An amazing night, fantastic display, good prices on refreshments and drinks served and all kept to pre-planned times. Will be back again next year but will visit again soon to try the Sunday roast. Thanks again

A slightly worrying start when we first walk in with flustered staff not sure who was serving us and who was free. But really glad we persevered. The service turned out to be great. Had the pork and veg roast which was all very tasty. Great atmosphere and lovely beer choices. I would go back if I was in the area and do recommend this place highly. Book in advance though!

We had a fabulous brunch on Sunday at The George, just made it for last breakfast orders at 11.45. A nice walk with dogs through woods for a thirsty pint with brunch in the garden, which looks inviting. Thoroughly recommend for a Sunday treat!

Under new management: the food is amazing and cooked from scratch. Service is attentive. If you have a fussy palate and like freshly cooked meals , it is definitely worth a visit.
