Taco Mel is my family’s new Mexican takeout restaurant. I was looking for another Mexican takeout, the corporate owned joins no longer satisfy my tastes and there was so many YouTube reviews of Taco Mel, I just had to give Taco Mell a try. Overall the food is great, they just use too much salt in their meats for my taste. That's all you taste is salt. No pepper, no herbs and spices, just salt in every bite. It makes it hard to enjoy your food. I usually end up throwing it away. I wish they'd explore new seasonings. They should try marinating the steak and chicken like Mexicans do with asada. Taco Mells is a great little to go spot. I have been going there for a couple of years now and we have already had good food and good service. The ONLY thing I did not like was their nachos are made with Doritos instead of regular tortilla chips and it made them super salty it would be nice if they gave you a choice or even a heads up. I met Taco Mell about 5 or 6 years ago thru my friend Slim 400, he was so obsessed with these tacos I was like “man I gotta try em” I had one bite in 2017 and been hooked ever since. He was in a food truck back then in a neighborhood that’s not so friendly, but the food was so fire we were taking that risk!! The food is sensational!! I love Mexican food and how he prepares it, it’s just top notch. I live in Miami now but I fly out almost every month, and the first place I go from LAX is Taco Mell!! I had the shrimp tacos and the steak tacos both we’re good but to be honest they need some kind of signature sauce to make it complete I felt like that was missing from the food. It isn’t your traditional taco you’ll find at a taqueria so they need a thicker sauce that goes well on burgers or wraps to make it work all the way. Less

Steak burrito was ABSOLUTE FIRE. 9.2/10 I ordered the steak burrito and added sour cream and guac. The total was only $12 after the add-ins which is awesome considering portion size and price compared to other places. Without add-ins it's only $9. You can taste all of the flavors and the ingredients taste fresh. The burrito is nice and juicy unlike a lot of places which are usually dry. I also got the green sauce to try which is sweet and has a subtle kick which is nice if you don't like spicy. Can't forget to mention this is one of the few black-owned Mexican spots and they definitely do it well. I'm always critical when I give reviews and don't give scores just to give them. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. There is usually a line but the wait isn't too long so don't let the wait make you walk away. My only critique is that the meat was just slightly chewy, but I'm just nitpicking here. I'll definitely be back to try more. Less
