Mario provided me with a $7500 estimate and added if they had to remove two of the trees in the middlie of the bamboo patch, they would complete a second estimate. I was taken aback by the cost, but I figured with inflation and my complete lack of knowledge about what it takes to remove bamboo, I thought the estimate was sound. I was wrong. Very wrong. I contacted another company (search my reviews for this company) and they arrived immediately. After looking over the same patch, the rep said he would take out the bamboo for $1500 and remove the trees for $750 each if needed. After I picked my jaw up off of the driveway, I contracted the new company and they knocked it out of the park. The bamboo is gone and so are the trees AND I saved at least $6000 without sacrificing quality customer service. I contacted G&V with my frustrations and they never contacted me for a discussion, despite them telling me they would do so. Really makes me wonder how much I over paid for all of the services they did complete. My only advice is before you sign with G&V, get another estimate. Their work is good, but their prices are very inflated.G&V took out a bunch of trees and sod in my front and side yard for a home we purchased that did not have a yard and was essentially mud and weeds. Over the course of about a year, G&V transformed our residence into something we look forward to coming home to every day. They are professional and their crews do an amazing job. Less

I do believe that if I'd gone with the most expensive option, more care would have been given to each individual tree, to ensure the cuts made were not just in the best interest of the structures on the property (ie removing low branches over the house and shed), but also in the best interest of the trees themselves. As the old adage goes... you get what you pay for. As far as I could tell, no arborist was actually on site on the day of the tree removal and pruning...one man who seemed to be a supervisor did show up eventually, but not until late in the job, and he made no changes/additions to the work that was being done. I did also have to modify my initial quote because G&V suggested I could simply prune a tree that *both* of the other companies I received quotes from said would be best off being cut down, and some potential work that other tree companies had agreed to (grinding an existing stump, existing debris removal) was not included in the initial quote. The process of getting everything I wanted onto the quote took more back and forth than I would've liked. The job itself was performed quite quickly, faster than I would've expected, but their speed negatively affected the quality of the work. On the day of the job I had to point out/remind the workers of a sapling that they missed, and ask them to trim more branches of a tree that were too close to a power line and which sounded very dead when the worker cut them down with the clipper on the pole. I don't think I would've had these issues with the company with the more expensive quote, since that company saw *all* of the work that needed to be done included it in their quote from the beginning, and the person from that company who came to do the quote specifically mentioned making sure to make cuts with the overall health of the trees in mind, and keeping the trees balanced as opposed to only cutting the branches that are over the roof.Overall, I'm satisfied with the value of the work, especially since I didn't need to pay by check/debit to avoid a fee. I do know, however, that better is out there (for a price) so I "like" the work G&V did but I don't "love" it.Edit: Taking an even closer look at my trees I spotted this branch (circled in yellow in the photograph) which is quite clearly dead but was not removed.While I am disappointed by the overlooked details on the day of the job, overall, I would still recommend using G&V for whole tree removals or removing downed trees/branches/debris because of their budget-friendly cost and the ability to pay online. When we moved into our house, the backyard was caked in vegetation, old trees, a broken retaining wall, and a half functioning patio. Mario walked us through the options we had available and why it needed to be done. We were hesitant at first because of pricing, and we only did the bare minimum. However, we soon learned that Mario’s recommendations were all crucial steps toward a functioning backyard with proper drainage and adequate grading for proper egress/use. We eventually went through the motions of turning our backyard marsh into the ideal lawn. At the end of it all, G&V took down problematic trees, dug French drains that connects to our gutters, installed sod & mulch, built a patio, and placed gravel around the edges our deck. Mario and his company kept us informed every step of the way; they even stopped by after the work was done to ensure that all completed work checked all the boxes. This was a dangerous tree, but they had a system and worked as a well oiled machine. The gentleman pulling the limbs to the chipper didn't just walk to the chipper, he jogged. I don't know how he did it in the oppressive heat.The staff of G & V are top notch from the point of contact with Alex, the estimator to Edwin in the office. We'll never use another tree company. Re'ne and his crew of three showed up on time, got right to work after checking in with me, and I don't think I've seen a group work so efficiently. Later on, a fifth worker showed up with a self-propelled stump grinding tool. After the work, they cleaned up so well I couldn't even tell they had been there, except for two missing trees, and nine others professionally pruned and shaped. On top of that, they offered a ten percent off coupon for Angie's List members, saving me a nice sum of money. I also have to thank Jamie, who came out to work up our estimate, and those in the office who were on top of the scheduling and communication. I couldn't be happier, and will absolutely use them again the next time I need tree service. No need to just take my word for it, though. Check out their reviews on Angie's List, Yelp, and Google. I can't say enough great things about G & V. I called because one of our maple trees had been knocked down during a storm. Came out for a very reasonable estimate next day which led me to add the removable of some branches from our neighbor's monstrous tree. They arrived on time, removed the tree the blink of an eye and planted our new one. They even added mulch to our other maple which was so nice of them. They did an amazing job of the branch removal which was not easy since it was all by hand. Not for the faint of heart! Got a lot of advice on how to keep our trees healthy.
