However, he’s also slurring his words and simply blanks out and forgets things. Neuromed was able to get him for a brain can eeg, within days. This was our first time doing anything like this. Claire Forbes was super friendly and helpful and met us in the reception area and stayed with until Matt, the technician was ready for us. My son was spoiled and extremely nervous, but Matt out him at ease. The whole brain scan took less than 15 minutes. In less than a day, we had the scan results back. Sadly, there is concussive brain damage that results in his mind being in a sleep walk state while he is awake and there is most likely some PTSD issues. My son is spooked. I told him we are blessed in three ways: God himself shone done on him that day to not be killed our crippled, his family doctor said it was a miracle; 2. We are blessed that now we k so there is an actual problem; and, 3. Dr. Leicht has assured us that MeRT is the right protocol to treat these injuries. She has come up with a 5 day a week protocol for an hour a day for six weeks; and has recommended and psychologist to deal with emotional issues. The whole process has been fast, efficient, friendly and most importantly re-assuring. It is amazing that Edmonton has one do these machines and the people used to treat them. It is the only one of its kind in Western Canada and the first of its kind in all of Canada. I know Neuromed offers other ground breaking treatments; but right now I feel blessed and happy and thankful that they are able to help; it’s awful being a parent in this situation and I simply feel relief although my son is still spooked, he will come to appreciate it. Update: We have since started treatment, all is going well, everything was explained and it feels like a kinetic energy ball hitting your forehead in five second intervals. Less

Every single day we were greeted with Claire’s smile as she lead us to treatment. Claire was there every step of the way to ensure we were happy and was so accommodating and understanding the few times we had to make changes to our appointments. Her demeanour was always the same and I have no doubt she would make you feel welcomed also. We personally dealt with Matt for the first 5 weeks of treatment. He was very patient and professional throughout our entire treatment. I was a nervous mess for the first week and he completely took my lead without pushing as I was nervous to increase intensities. He was incredibly understanding and great with our daughter and managed her “big personality” gracefully. We look forward to seeing Matt again! We only had Jane for a week of treatment, and while we didn’t get to know her as well as Matt, she was absolutely professional and easy to talk to. Again, another great staff member at Neuromed Clinic! I frequently stated to my family how genuinely happy I was with the staff at the clinic. They never missed a beat and were so professional. As far as treatment results go, we have seen a few changes in our daughter such as being a little calmer, able to tolerate things on her head ex: hats/toque which she was never ever able to before. Walks patiently beside us and has better eye contact. Her EEG’s have been coming back great so we have faith things will progress. However, the staff have been upfront since the very beginning that she may never show improvement. But this was a risk we as a family chose to take. My before/after TMS depression score got worse, as it normally would at this time of year (a gradual decline from no depression to severe depression over 4 months). I am very grateful that I was able to try it though, especially because it was not my money. I think it should be free and a first line of treatment before medications, because it is non-invasive and seems to have a better success rate than anti-depressants do. Just because it didn't work for my SAD doesn't mean it won't work for others with this condition. I don't have typical case of SAD (I feel worst in March, not when it's darkest around December). I have only good things to say about the staff - Claire, Matt, and Dr. Leicht. I imagine that the minority of patients who don't respond to TMS is always sad/hard for them too. Claire is always helpful and quick to respond to my questions. Matt came in before 8 am for all of my sessions to accommodate my schedule. Dr. Leicht prescribed another medication for me to try when I wasn't responding to the TMS, so I wasn't left with nothing (I honestly don't think I'd have the brain capacity to write this review without the new medication, so it is helping, but it only lasts around 5 hours and then I feel/function worse than normal - I'm trying to dose it differently today). I am thinking about getting an EEG. I hope TMS works for you, and if it doesn't keep trying new treatments/medications. It is easy to feel hopeless when nothing works but you don't need to feel hope to act in a hopeful manner. I had a dozen different DSM diagnoses (plus some misdiagnoses) in the past - half of them for 15 years and most for more than 5 years, and SAD is the only one that still remains. TMS didn't work for my seasonal depression and is very expensive to try, so 1 star for that, but I don't want to leave a one star review when I don't have a negative opinion of the Neuromed Clinic or of TMS. The only thing I would say is a downside about Neuromed is the diversity in the staff. Personally I feel more comfortable around women and Neuromed does not offer any female workers that do the actual procedure. Also i was quoted 100 per session with 30 sessions being 3000 dollars plus tax but when i was going to pay they were charging me 3500 plus until i told them that you first quoted me 3000 where is this 500 dollars coming from. The lady did a 180 and said they would charge me the original amount that was said. That being said they seem to wanna help there patients its just the way they handle things i felt not happy with there services and want people to be super careful spending that kind of money. Less

I had more relief from these treatments then therapy or medication which takes months with no side effects like medication, they are quick and completely painless. I finished my treatment June 2020 , it was only 2.5 weeks , each treatment was 30 minutes or so , they offered financing which helped me afford it as I was facing depression from been laid off work and other life issues . POST TREATMENT UPDATE: Even after the first few sessions of TMS treatments, I noticed my energy levels are higher than ever, my memory, speed and focus are all excellent, and I feel better than I have in years. The biggest difference I've noticed is that getting up in the mornings is no longer a struggle, and I'm extremely pleased that that effect stayed and is becoming a habit. It has been nearly a full month where I wake up with my alarm, take a deep breath and get up. No more feeling utterly exhausted, numb, sad, or like I need to hide from the world. Due to high stress and burnout from an exhausting work schedule and depression/anxiety, I came to Neuromed looking for help and answers. I did a consultation phone call to start where, even then, I felt like I was being heard and cared for. I then did a two week daily treatment of TMS, which I didn't need to take time off work for but they helped alleviate my stress by providing a note. The treatment itself is non-invasive and involves minor counseling throughout visits, if wanted. Within the first day, I felt a lightness in my head and felt I could think things through more clearly. After a few days, the lightness lifted but I was still thinking clearly, motivated, and able to recover from mood swings easier. The staff were friendly, the treatment was painless, the price was reasonable and the overall experience was great. If you have the time to give to this program I strongly recommend it, I was told everyone handles it differently, I personally took a couple weeks to start feeling well but even now after my treatment with all the tips and tricks I was given during my session to continue to grow I feel 100% different than my first day before neuromed. I was very upfront I was sick of trying different medication that either made me feel like a zombie or made me sick. I wanted to try something without medication. Best decision ever! The cost is similar to my annual; medication cost. The staff were helpful and took the time to go brought things and answer my many questions. The took the time to make sure I was comfortable.Parking was sometimes a challenge as there was not always free spots but that was a minor inconvenience.
