My review is for my trainer Kevin Abandy. Just wanted to say he is a very knowledgeable trainer. He would first listen to your goals and also take into consideration of your current body conditions and injuries and work around that. Before the start of every single session he would ask how are you doing today to ensure he can address any issue you may have that particular day before starting. He does not want you to aggravate any injuries (he would also get on my case for over stretching due to my existing injuries haha). But a big thing for him is to instill having the right technique. Outside of the gym, he would text you the workout of the day, so you can track progress, tries to hold you accountable for having the nutrition, sleep, and would be very responsive to text or call anytime. The only knock on him is it's too bad he can't observe me on every single rep but that's because I signed up for his cheaper group session rather than 1 on 1 in which he also offers.

Really like this gym! The equipment is good, the place is clean, and the overall atmosphere is pretty chill. The personal trainers are also very helpful and actually take the time to show you what to do and make sure you’re doing the exercises correctly. Staff are friendly and it never feels too crowded, which makes working out a lot more enjoyable. Definitely a solid gym if you’re in the Chino Hills area! 👍

5/5!So this is what they call a Semi-private gym. You can either pay the gym a membership fee to get a certain level of access or pay a personal trainer to train with.I have been training here for a little over 2 years. If you train with a PT here, YMMV. The trainer you have really makes or breaks your experience. As with many of these types of gym. It is a bit difficult to choose or even know which PTs train here as the website does not list them all and the front doors are now locked so it might be difficult to just walk in and inquire about services here. I would suggest checking out their social media first to contact them.The first trainer I trained with here was fine but I eventually met Kalie and switched over to her. And OMG what a world of a difference. Kalie is knowledgeable, prepared, consistent, and most importantly empathetic. As a woman, I needed a PT that would not villainize food/sugar, provide honest feedback while normalizing our bodies, but keeping me on track with my personal fitness goals. Her approach is truly personalized and she leads with compassion and heart. Kalie is also so reliable and consistent with scheduling which is something I prioritized and needed as a full time working mom. I highly recommend Kalie!

I signed up with Kalani for a 6-month commitment at $320 per month and was assured I would receive regular check-ins, body scans, meal plans, restaurant food guidance, and structured programming. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of what was promised. Scheduling was inconsistent and her availability was limited. Nutrition support consisted of a single meal plan that I was expected to follow for an entire month, which quickly led to burnout and was not sustainable.Workouts were unplanned and put together on the spot, with little progression or structure. Considering this is an elite gym, it was frustrating to frequently receive workouts that felt more like home or bootcamp-style sessions despite paying a premium.The most disappointing moment was receiving a text message comparing my progress to another client's weight loss, implying my results were due to poorer “consistency" or “cheating." This was inappropriate and dismissive. When I raised my concerns, Kaylani responded unprofessionally and canceled my remaining sessions rather than addressing the issues. This demonstrated a lack of communication skills and professionalism. I regret not interviewing multiple trainers beforehand and recommend others do thorough research before committing.Update:Upon reviewing Kalani as a personal trainer, it appears she has been attempting to rebuild her professional reputation. As a former client, I find it inappropriate and offensive that Mr. Herbert reviewed her services in the capacity of a spouse rather than as a client. Although I was personally wronged, I have chosen not to pursue reimbursement despite having grounds to do so.Additionally, the decision for the Self Made Instagram account to block me appears retaliatory and unprofessional. I engaged in no misconduct and was the party wronged. This behavior is inappropriate in a professional environment.

When reviews are written by friends and a spouse rather than actual clients, their validity is questionable. The credentials listed in Kalani’s bio are also misleading, she is not a practicing nurse and is not a nutritionist.Throughout my training, I was repeatedly asked at each session what I wanted to work on, which demonstrated a lack of preparation and planning. I paid for semi-private training specifically because I expected a structured program and long-term plan over a six-month period. Instead, due to her limited availability, I had to settle to be in group sessions which was not what I was paying a premium for.The only consistent aspect of the service was the monthly charge. After my final session which was a group HIIT workout rather than the semi-private training I had paid for, I left the facility only to receive an unprofessional text message canceling my training and blocking any further communication. This was completely blindsiding and showed a significant lack of professionalism and maturity.There was no disagreement or argument leading up to this. The “tension” she later claimed stemmed from her comparing our results to those of another client with a completely different lifestyle and age group, implying that we were not seeing results because we were “cheating.” This was both inaccurate and hurtful.I want to be clear that the Self Made Training Facility itself offers a great environment to train in. Unfortunately, I did not do adequate research beforehand, had an unpleasant experience with this trainer, and ultimately feel that my money was wasted.
