Matt = Good Results I initially lost 85lbs and had been maintaining pretty well til this year. However over the course of this year, I fell into bad habits and gained 25lbs and was having a helluva time shedding it. it’s hard to stay disciplined for so long. I got arrogant and thought I could work off whatever I ate. But my running and working out just couldn’t keep up with my eating. 😡 that’s pretty frustrating, especially considering I work out 5-7 times a week. The half marathon I ran in October, I was at 200lbs. I managed to get through it. It took me 20min longer than my first half marathon. Next month I had the Spartan super (9miles and 25-30 obstacles). I needed to get things under control! Last year I put on 15lbs and was able to shed that by doing two-a-days. I didn’t want to end up doing two-a-days again to lose the weight. Free time is precious! i didn’t want to spend any more time than I already was on this.😥 I knew that nutrition was my biggest problem. I attended Matt’s talk at fleet feet in October and decided to have a consultation. After that consultation, I decided to put my faith in Matt’s knowledge and experience. we established some goals for the end of the phase (3 months). My goals were modest. I just wanted to get back into some old pants. My weight gain this year had caused me to jump from 34in waist to 38inches. I wanted to get back to my weight after my initial loss, 175. So in about 1 ½ months, I dropped from a 38inch waist back to 34. Now at 2 months, I’ve lost 20lbs. 5lbs short of my goal, but with a month left. I’ve met with Matt three times for in-person follow-ups. My body fat % has dropped from 21% to 18.6% to 15.8% (measured this past Saturday). My athletic performance has improved as well. My run times have gotten better over the past few weeks to culminate in a 5k personal record of 26:21 from this Sunday’s run--beating my previous time by 2 full minutes! 😆 One of my new goals in the new year is now getting down to 150lbs and beating my 5k time. I have learned the reason why some foods are bad, that we always heard were good for you, and the reasons why the food we thought was bad for you are indeed just the opposite. I started again on a program February 1st of this year...2 months later I have lost over 20 lbs. of pure fat and not sacrificed even an ounce of Muscle....ALL while eating regular food that others would consider "bad". No starving, no special strange foods, just good quality food that most people eat everyday. I am a person with a lot of questions and Matt has done an excellent job explaining and answering those questions. We are working on making this a life program, not a program we want to follow for only a few months, but the goal is to take this knowledge and incorporate it the rest of my life...after all, no gimmicks, just real food and learning how to utilize the food without sacrificing your health.
