Love this studio! The atmosphere at Maek Friends is warm, creative, and welcoming. By far the best pottery studio in town. Great equipment, a supportive community of makers, and just an all-around joy to spend time in. Even if you’re not in OB, I come in from North Park and it’s always worth the drive!

I recently became a new member and I’m falling in love. Pottery has become my new thing lately :) I lose hours at the wheel without noticing. It’s like meditation through your hands. Something about it just clicks for me.If you want a creative outlet that gets you out of your head, I can’t recommend this place enough.

Maek Friends succeeds in helping people of all skill levels be creative and continue to learn. The staff are attentive, supercompetent and friendly. The members are welcoming. To top it all off, the best coffee can be handed to you through a large hole in the wall from next door. Bliss.

Such an amazing community! I started with zero experience and now feel super comfortable on my own. This is a great space to get your hands dirty and play without consequence, and make some really cool art pieces in the process

I have nothing but great things to say about Maek Friends! I am a complete beginner at pottery and while being interested in trying for a while, I was intimidated by my lack of experience. At first I was hesitant about the Maek Friends model as I didn't think I knew enough to join a studio without prior experience but boy was I wrong! The community is so welcoming and helpful, that I actually think I have learned more than if I had done a structured weekly course and because of the flexibility the studio offers, it allowed me to get more invested into the new hobby by finding times every week that works for me. A few months in now and I am officially hooked. I highly recommend joining if you are interested in making some cool new things and cool new friends!

After listening to a strange calling inside me pushing me towards pottery. Something I have never done and never thought of doing. Found Maek Friends Pottery studio and my calling has been answered. I am enjoying so much going there 3 or 4 times per week. Throwing clay into shape and amazing my self of the things I can do. I have been going there for 2 months and I believe this is going to be part of my weekly life. The studio and te people that manage it are amazing. I have access to all I need and I can play with mud again like child. But this time producing things that are beautiful (at least for me) and I can gift them to friends and Family..... Until they say. No more pottery gifts please! we do not know where to put them!..... Meak Friends is a great place to play.

this studio is tiny but mighty! the staff are all so helpful and even hold “office hours” dedicated solely to helping with projects and technique! unlimited clay, quick and consistent firing schedule, nice quality communal tools, validated parking. members are friendly, music is always a good vibe, theres so much to love here :)
