Ventus Therapy

I found this place because of an Instagram ad. I am a dragonboater but had many of the specific difficulties mentioned in the ad directed for fighters. I tried the traditional PT route and found it to be not helpful at all. I went into this thinking "what do I have to lose?", especifally since the first session was free. (Also helps that Ventus has all 5 star reviews.) It turned out I had a lot in common with fighters. I got assigned to Yoshiya aka Josh. Yoshiya never paddled before but he took the time to speak with me to understand my stroke and watched videos of me and other people in action so he could better understand what was going on. Traditional PT never did that. He told me he could "fix" me in 4 sessions and that I didn't even need to come in every week. Traditional PT recommended coming in 2x a week so that almost seemed too good to be true. He gave me home work which took more than an hour to complete and I had to do it daily. I had other issues arise when my coach tried to change my stroke or when I slept on the wrong pillow and Yoshiya was very helpful in helping me resolve these unexpected things. I cannot say enough good things about him- he never makes you feel rushed to leave. In the sessions, he really gives you all of his attention and makes sure you, the patient, fully understand your situation and the logic behind all of the exercises he gives you. He speaks with a lot of PT lingo and about muscles that I didn't know existed but you can really get the sense that this guy knows what he's doing. After session 3, the pain disappeared. It was a miracle. After all the bumps along the road, Yoshiya delivered completely on everything he had promised. Things that he predicted would happen basically all came true. I was in disbelief, even as the patient. He gave me more work to do at my final session despite my expectation of it being a goodbye. I really feel like Yoshiya wants me to get even stronger, beyond just recovering and living without pain. He doesn't cut ties with you after because you are no longer a paying customer and he said this isn't a transactional relationship. Yoshiya, in my opinion, is going to change the world of PT and is a pioneer in many ways. He's running his practice the way he thinks it should be and doing all the things that got him in trouble when he had worked at a traditional PT place. He's ambitious and he wants to do so much for the world. And honestly, I believe he already has.
All of this being said- Yoshiya is not cheap. He does not take insurance which was my major source of hesitation to do this. However, he can take away your chronic pain and, can you really put a price on that? He doesn't talk like a used sales car salesman and doesn't keep trying to up sale you or have you pay for more sessions or add-ons. He's just clear in the beginning about what to expect and does what he says he's going to do. There are no gimmicks here. Just straight forward honesty.
Thank you Yoshiya, for doing what I did not think was possible.
