I rented a HMO room for 2 years, originally from Ox Living but this property transitioned to being managed by Cardea Lettings over a year into this letting. The transition period could have been smoother. We didn't receive important emails/messages from Cardea lettings which resulted in them locking multiple house members belongings, including my working from home equipment in the communal office which was a huge inconvenience to me. The cleaners for communal areas didn't attend weekly in the transition from letting agents, I still don't believe they attend weekly, I found maggots and a foul odour in the hallway the week I moved out. I found the check out report conducted by Sarah to be pedantic. Many of the issues flagged were existent when I originally moved in but not correctly logged in the transition from letting agents. When I originally moved in, there were maggots when I flushed the toilet for weeks, I left on a work trip and had to cover the toilet in cling film in fear of what I would return to. There was faeces smeared into the bathroom walls and floor tiles with splatters of it on the ceiling. There was also brown stains and blue paint marks all over the mattress, carpets and most furnishings. I was asked to move out for a few weeks while Ox Living rectified the issues only to discover 5 weeks later they had only half cleaned the bathroom. Frustrated I moved back in and addressed most of the problems myself. I cleaned and scraped off excess paint from most furnishings, hired a carpet cleaner and used many bottles of bleach to make that room habitable and remove the smell of faeces. It was very disappointing on check out by Cardea Lettings for them to flag some of the pre existing issues. Unfortunately I was ill during the window in which I could raise this with Reposit and ended up paying £442 on departure Charges break down £360 for repaint (the room looked like it was painted with a mop before I moved in) £40 for cleaning £42 for a replacement key - despite agreeing to post it back Less
