This was by far the most traumatic medical experience I’ve ever had in my life, and I owe most of it to Matthew Ollerton’s horrendous bedside manner. I was referred to him by my family doctor, who was afraid I might have melanoma under my toenail.my doctor said it’s probably just toenail fungus, but to rule out melanoma he sent us to Dr. Ollerton. When he met us Ollerton took one look at my foot, and began to clip as much of my toenail off as possible. When I naturally pulled away a little he gave me a stern look. “I’m just a little afraid of needles and things.” I said sheepishly. “These aren’t needles they’re clippers.” He replied as if that makes things so much better. “If you want I can just numb your toe so you don’t feel it.” He sighed. I hesitated just long enough for him to say “I’ll choose for you. Here’s so cooling spray (spraying my foot) and here’s the shot (injecting me without my verbal consent).” I have bruises where the shots were. When he had clipped off as much as he could he took a dremel and started grinding away at whatever was left. I was in tears but he didn’t flinch. Just continued in his callous, unfeeling way. At one point saying “if it is melanoma we’ll have to amputate it, so this really isn’t that bad.” His demeanor was that of a Disney villain, like he was taking pleasure in my pain and anxiety. In the end he told me it would take more than a year for my toenail to grow back, and gave me a solution to paint on my nail two times a day to keep my toe fungus from coming back. It has Tolnaftate as the active ingredient, which has been proven to only be affective on skin fungus like athletes foot. Not toenail fungus. I came away feeling humiliated and hurt by a guy who lacked the medical understanding or bedside manner it takes to be a good doctor. After i stopped crying I looked up reviews and was appalled by how many one reviews he had gotten from racial minorities saying he had discriminated against them. In short, someone needs to teach this man empathy or at least a professional bedside manner because this is RIDICULOUS. Is this why he moved from Springville to Spanish Fork? The front desk staff were considerate, and organized. So that part was good. Less

They were super responsive and quick to help me out. The ingrown toenail procedure was very quick and basically painless. I am very happy with it.

He knows what to do to actually solve the problem. I had gotten multiple times my ingrown toenails cut by other doctors and it just came back but he treated my foot with three rounds of fenol and the best part was that he was so clean about it, I was barely in pain even when the numbing wore off. I suffered with plantar fasciitis for 20 years. My left foot hurt so bad in the mornings I could not walk without a crutch or cane. It improved as the morning went on but, I always had pain. I went to multiple different Doctors to try and get help. I used professionally prepared orthotics off and on for 20 years. All kinds and types which helped a little but were very uncomfortable.A friend who had experienced plantar fasciitis for many years told me she had a Topaz procedure 5 years earlier and had good results. I asked Dr Ollerton about the procedure and he explained it to me and said he did the operation and what I could expect for a recovery period. I decided to try it because I had a lot of pain and nothing had helped.On Dec 15, 2022, Dr Ollerton did the operation.The following two months were painful from the surgery. The swelling took 3-4 months to go away.As of today, April 21, 2023 I can say it was a miracle. I have no plantar pain at all. Feeling very frustrated after the experience I've had with this clinic. The only reason we gave them a chance was they were the closest Podiatrist that accepted my friends insurance. She is Hispanic and doesn't speak a lot of English. She asked me to call for her and make an appt. When I spoke with the gal that answered the phone, I explained what I needed and when would the soonest we could get her in. I explained to her the times she works and that we wanted her fit for custom orthotics. However, when my friend went, I was going to try and be there, however, with the workload at my job I was unable to accompany her. Which was a big mistake. She went in there, and she tried to tell them where her pain was at that moment and next thing I know she's calling me saying that they sent her away. They don't deal in pain in the leg and hip. I felt frustrated and called into their office while she was in the parking lot still. I asked them what happened and what we were wanting was a pair of orthotics fit for her. I sent her back in and when I got home, she showed me the pair of slip ins they sold her. I told her that's not what we wanted, we wanted a custom fit pair not a one size fits all. I called back over to the office on Monday when they opened and asked them what happened, how can there be so much disconnect from what is being told to the front desk to what's going on with the Dr. Are they not keeping notes of what the patient is requesting when they talk to us on the phone? So we had to make another appt to get back in there, they couldn't accommodate us and get us back in that day before she left to go to work at 3pm. Almost a week later we go, they try and charge us another copay, I told them no, this isn't our fault, we asked for custom orthotics and instead got a pair of $60 one size fits all. When the Dr saw us, he didn't apologize for the mis-communication, he was very short and angered. I thought they would have been more apologetic, they seemed very frustrated that we wanted to return our un-used $60 generic pair and would want a custom fit orthotics for $300.00. We have to go back in 2 weeks to pick them up. I hope their attitude is much different and they treat us like customers/patients should be treated. Very disappointed and if we don't see a major improvement when we go back, we'll make the drive to Orem to the next Dr. Less
