I was dealing with knee, neck and shoulder pain when I decided to give Function PCP a crack. I signed up for the two week trial and Davis (principal physiotherapist) did a physical assessment, listened attentively to my issues and immediately gave me treatment to help relieve the pain.I had previously been dismissed by multiple GPs and superficially examined by another physio, so it was fantastic to find someone who was attentive and interested in getting to the root of the problem; explained why my body was in pain and gave me actionable points to improve things. It was my first time joining a gym but all the instructors were friendly and encouraging. They give clear demonstrations, checked my form was correct, and modified the exercises whenever I experienced pain. The small class size (max 6 to 8 people) meant they could give everyone some attention. After two weeks I was hooked! The variety of classes kept things challenging, and meant I could shift my focus depending on how I was feeling; whether it was pilates for stability and control, stronger/leaner for strength/conditioning, bounce for cardio or aerial for flexibility.I’ve now been at Function for almost a year and I’m no longer afraid to exercise in fear of pain and as a result I’ve seen a massive improvement in both my physical and mental health. I went from being unable to walk without knee pain, to running 5km in under 30 min!The most rewarding part however, has been finding a friendly community of instructors and gym goers who all challenge and encourage each other in class. So big thank you to Davis and the team at Function PCP! For giving me the confidence and ability to move again.
