Source Energy Group

I engaged Source Energy Group (not to be confused with another company of similar name) to remove my old 4.5 kW panels and install a new solar system comprising 9.5 kW of panels and 33 kWh of battery storage at my home in Kureelpa, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
The path to this decision wasn’t straightforward. Before signing with Source Energy Group, I sought quotes from several other solar companies. Each offered different solutions and costings, reflecting the complexities of my property. As anyone who has embarked on the solar journey will know, quotes vary wildly — from the prohibitively expensive to the suspiciously cheap, with questionable equipment and warranties.
My installation was particularly challenging: the house runs on two‑phase power (neither single nor three‑phase), has large trees shading the roof, and required panels to be mounted on a shed some distance away, with underground cabling. Cathedral ceilings limited roof cavity access, while the mains input switch and meter sit on a pole away from the house, with multiple switchboards scattered between the house and shed. In short, it was an awkward design. Some companies had no idea how to handle the two‑phase setup, others refused to place panels on the shed. I even signed a contract with one company that seemed promising, but after repeated failures to deliver, I cancelled.
My experience with Source Energy Group was the complete opposite. After detailed discussions with Anthony in their office — supported by photos and diagrams I provided — they quickly presented practical solutions to every challenge. Their proposal featured quality equipment at a competitive price: 9.5 kW of Longi panels and a GoodWe battery system offering 32 kWh usable capacity, with two banks and dual 5 kW inverters. Research confirmed these products are Tier‑1, well‑reviewed, and backed by strong warranties.
Although installation was delayed by battery supply shortages and the rush before the Federal Government rebate reduction, Source Energy Group honoured the contract price and even included a free battery upgrade. Work commenced in mid‑May. The installation team proved highly professional, keeping me informed and involving me in decisions such as battery placement. Declan, the lead installer, went above and beyond — upgrading my switchboard, running heavy‑gauge wiring to account for the long cable runs, and ensuring a neat, high quality finish. Despite the distance from their base, Declan has since returned to fine‑tune the system.
The office team, led by Jo, were equally impressive — responsive, diligent, and quick to address queries.
I am delighted with the outcome. Source Energy Group delivered a high‑quality solar system with professionalism, integrity, and care at a fair price. I can confidently recommend them to anyone seeking a reliable solar installation partner.
