Shakearah came recommended to me and helped me with the purchase of my first home. I was satisfied with the support I received during my transaction, which is why I felt comfortable recommending her to my mother when she was purchasing a home.Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, my mother had to cancel her purchase. That is when our experience changed significantly. When my mother was trying to recover her escrow funds, Shakearah became increasingly unresponsive and unhelpful. She told my mother that she needed to hire an attorney because the seller did not want to release the funds.After contacting the escrow company ourselves, we learned that this was not the situation. The required release had actually been signed more than a week earlier. The escrow company confirmed that the document had been received, yet for reasons that were never explained to us, the signed release was apparently being held while my mother waited for her escrow funds to be returned.What was especially frustrating was that Shakearah advised my mother to hire an attorney the day before my mother ultimately received her escrow reimbursement. Had we not contacted the escrow company ourselves, we would have been left believing that legal action was necessary to recover funds that were already in the process of being released.I expect clear, honest, and timely communication from a real estate professional, especially when dealing with a client’s money and important contractual deadlines.I am extremely grateful to our mortgage broker and escrow company, who went above and beyond to guide my mother through the process and help her understand what was actually happening. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Shakearah for a transaction where you need consistent communication and someone who will advocate for your interests from beginning to end.
