The Route 32 Bistro is a small restaurant with a bar and tv screens showing sports. There is a single bathroom inside near the bar. We originally sat inside and it was a bit noisy, so we asked to move to the outdoor patio because it was a nice evening and much quieter. There are several tables inside, but probably more tables outside with a much nicer atmosphere. With string lights, space heaters, plants and flowers, and a covered section, the patio is probably the best spot to enjoy your meal.We started with the fried cheese curds, which were delicious! They were lightly battered and fried, so crispy and flavorful, and came with a creamy marinara sauce. Definitely our favorite dish that we tried! We also got a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and the ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The ribs were pretty good, maybe a bit chewy, but moist and good flavor. The mashed potatoes were more of an after thought, just okay. It might be partly because we were sitting outside and they got cold while we were focused on the ribs, haha. The pulled pork came with coleslaw and bbq sauce in the sandwich. It almost tasted like it was a green chili pork, and with bbq sauce it was a different taste. It was actually too spicy for me, so I couldn't finish it. The sweet potato fries were really good though, thin and crisp, and the fry sauce was good.We also caved and tried the coconut pecan bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was really good! Lots of coconut and nuts, and the flavor was pretty balanced. It was a bit pricier than we were expecting, but overall, it was a nice date for us while enjoying the mountains and open air and good food.
