Le pongo una baja calificación por el servicio, nos atendió una señora alta con actitud de estoy muy ocupada y no tengo tiempo, es un lugar concurrido pero en esta ocasión solo había 3 mesas ocupadas cuando llegamos y ella no estaba atendiendo a las 3. No somos personas indecisas ni lentas para ordenar y aún así cuando estaba tomando la orden de mi papá ni siquiera lo dejó terminar cuando le pregunta a mi mamá; y usted señora? Yo estaba viendo hacia donde estaba mi hija y tuve que voltear a verla en cuanto la escuché, no fueron las palabras fue el tono en que lo dijo, le molestó que mi papá le dijera que el aún no había terminado. Su actitud fue igual durante todo el tiempo que estuvimos ahí, mi esposo le hizo saber que nos faltaban 2 bebidas y no le respondió nada solo fue y volvió a ponerlas sobre la mesa, mi papá le pidió la cuenta en 2 ocasiones y al parecer no lo escuchaba ( estábamos en la mesa que está al lado de la caja) trajo la cuenta cuando yo se la pedí, pagamos en efectivo y sobraba lo proporcional a un propina decente, demoró mucho en traer el cambio, quizás consideraba que se lo teníamos que dejar de propina, pero no iba a dejar el 15% por un pésimo servicio. No soy de dejar malas reseñas, supongo que a veces las personas tienen un mal día pero en esta ocasión lo hago porque no es la primera vez que ella nos atiende y se ve que no le gusta el servicio al cliente (la primera vez solo íbamos mi esposo y yo). Had breakfast with a good friend early this summer. El Canto had caught my curiosity because I run into it all the time whenever I buy my fresh produce that’s right next door. I have lived in the neighborhood for about 35 years and have seen several Mexican restaurants come and go at this location since the Chinese restaurant left (early/mid 2000s). The outside is well maintained, inviting and decorative for a “hole-in-the-wall” and the inside of the restaurant looks just as nice. Modern, decorative, charming, with all the fixings. Ambience was on point. I’m surprise though, the prices on menu are just as high as that of higher tier restaurant in Southbay. This restaurant is not even located at/by the beach. Food was good. I recall ordering my favorite, chilaquiles. My friend had the same along with orange juice drinks. Not sure who was serving us, but I recall several female staff standing around by the register/kitchen area and they were not the cook. Could have been family members. They should not be standing around though, at least look busy or attend to the customers. Server(s) were not attentive at all, no fluff to their work personality, no one checked in but was available when I requested for a glass of water. They were not rude, but they definitely need to be trained on better customer service. Perhaps, it would also help if servers spoke English. Almost forgot to mention, we were greeted and seated immediately. I remember food did not arrive at our table immediately, was more on the slow side. Our dish and other stuff eventually came around without issues. Not really sure if I would return to El Canto unless I want to hangout for some coffee but that is why we have a Starbucks across the street. I recommend that food menu prices aren’t raised, to be more conservative and mindful. Less

I’ve had 3 iced coffees: horchata, mazapán, and rompope. So far, rompope is the best one. As far as food, the omelets and chilaquiles are great. Currently, one of my favorite places to eat at. Food is great, waitress always kind and friendly, and atmosphere is so cozy. Only downside is that it’s a small restaurant, so limited seating. Less

Very cute place. Parking is not the best but that’s to be expected pretty much anywhere in SD. The staff was kind and attentive and the decor was to die for. Perfect for brunch pictures. The food was really mid, I don’t know if I just didn’t order their specialty but I got the green chilaquiles and everything on the plate (except for the beans) lacked flavor. The portion was pretty big so I’d say it’s easily shareable. Also they have live music and the man’s voice was incredible however it’s was really loud the whole time we were there and couldn’t hear each other very well. I might return and try a different dish. The young waitress was lost in what she was doing, other folks who entered the establishment after us were served before us because of her confused mind (?) The menu is only two pages, and it gives you the list of that go in the dish, however when I ordered the steak ranchero, it tasted like carne asada mixed with diced onion, tomatoes and red tomato salsa, but no bell peppers and most deff not steak ranchero, they charged me the tortillas extra, brought the other drinks to the table super late, and no glass or jug with my beer. Also, I couldn't hear well nor understand the waitress because of the loud music playing Bohemian or rock Mexicano, and I'm hard of hearing as well, so add that to it. The portion where regular normal, but nothing special about the flavors /taste, in fact, the chilaquiles are more like crunchy Doritos than chilaquiles, yet the prices where up there, for two plates, coffee and beer, it cost a toston, fifty bucks.. I've visited El Encanto a couple of times, and while it has its positives, it falls short in some areas. The atmosphere is lovely, and the place is spotlessly clean. The coffee is pretty good, and the decoration is nice. However, despite the owner being present, there's a lack of managerial presence and warmth. The service is basic and efficient, but not particularly friendly or attentive. The food, unfortunately, is just okay. I've tried a few dishes, and they're not particularly impressive. It feels like the kitchen is playing it safe, and the menu could benefit from more creativity and flavor. The queso fundido was supposed to be melted cheese, instead, it was dry and not very pleasant to see. Overall, El Encanto is an okay place to grab a meal, but it's not somewhere I would go out of my way to recommend. With a bit more attention to customer service and culinary creativity, it could be a real gem. For now, it's just a solid, middle-of-the-road option. *Pros:* Nice atmosphere, clean, good coffee, nice decoration *Cons:* Lack of managerial presence, basic service, food is just okay, not particularly impressive. El lugar está limpio,muy bonito, el servicio, muy amable la señora, pero la comida estaba Fria, tardan mucho en servir si no tienes tiempo no es un buen lugar para comer. A month ago I visit for the first time, ask for red chilaquiles and paying extra for machaca side I the plate.. my daughter ask for chipotle chilaquiles with a side of chorizo…. Well the chilaquiles where more like paper thin tortillas like the ones for chips & salsa from a pre- cook from a bag, they don’t look like they fry the tortillas there, the red sauce was playing tomato sauce with no flavor whatsoever, they sprinkle the sauce very poorly. My food was warm not hot. They got so soggy with the little bit of sauce they put on it, the side of machaca was a soup full spoon of it wich means almost nothing and that was $3 dls for extra charge for that!! The beans, the potatoes had a good flavor I gotta give them that. My daughter plate was the same paper thing tortillas that the sauce make them go soggy before you can start eating but it had good flavor , the side of chorizo was very poor we’ve too.. and was half way in to my plate and still waiting for my drink till like almost 20 min later. I order a side of grill jalapeños and she brought it almost at the same time I of my drink. We did wait almost 40 min total for our food. I was very disappointed for being my first time. For people who knows and likes chilaquiles, maybe you can get something else. I would give it another try ordering something different maybe. I’m not saying everything is bad cause I haven’t try it. Food was excellent. Prices are high as another reviewer stated but food costs are high and the food was fresh. Plus it is costly to start and run a business and with high mandatory minimum wage you can’t expect prices to be low, especially at a small business. The healthy green juice was worth every penny. The chilaquiles were the best I’ve had. Their coffees were fantastic too. It’s a thinly place with a great atmosphere. Bathroom was nice and they have a little lounge area too. I went to breakfast the other morning and I found a nice little restaurant. Prices seem a little high for some menu items while other menu items we a little better priced. The food was great and the different coffees were well done. Nicely decorated, friendly staff, food comes out fast, I really enjoyed my breakfast. They even did a great job with the plates and utensils and the coffee mugs and the Café de olla cup and saucer were just perfect for the ladies. I highly recommend trying this place as I will definitely be back, maybe for lunch next time. Less
