Review of Lean With Plants (LWP): A Costly and Harmful Experience
My Experience with LWP (2021-2024)
After three extended stints with LWP from January 2021 to September 2024, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this program. In fact, I strongly warn against it, particularly for:
• Anyone with a history of eating disorders or disordered eating
• Anyone who does not want to be on a diet for life
• Anyone who does not want to be manipulated by questionable leadership and sales tactics
LWP Is a Restrictive Diet Disguised as a Lifestyle
Despite marketing itself as a sustainable lifestyle, LWP is a highly restrictive diet. The epitome of toxic fitspo diet culture mixed with MLM, get rid of your friends who aren't all in, etc. The program pushes strict WFPB eating rules, totally disconnected to your body, and without credible, science or credential-backed nutritional guidance. From the coaches to the founder—an Instagram influencer with no legitimate credentials in nutrition, mental health, or wellness—there is no qualified professional oversight to justify the level of pressure, advice and claims they make.
Expensive, Predatory, and Cult-Like
• High Costs for Questionable Value: The program, including overpriced retreats, focuses more on justifying its expense than providing any real value.
• Exploitative Sales Practices: LWP employs aggressive marketing tactics to lure participants in, preying on their insecurities.
• Toxic Leadership & Employee Treatment: Behind the scenes, employees are treated poorly if not abusive, and the community carries a cult-like idol worship atmosphere, with the founder leveraging weight-loss success stories—often without consent or actual significant LWP WL—to promote the program.
A Warning for Potential Participants
At its core, LWP is another Instagram-driven, pseudo-scientific diet scheme led by an influencer who seems unconcerned with the harm caused to participants, former and current. It follows the same pattern as other fraudulent wellness figures, prioritizing profits over people with no consideration to the negative health outcomes of former (or current) members - or employees.
If you are considering joining LWP, I strongly urge you to reconsider. There are far better, ethically responsible alternatives available for those seeking sustainable health and wellness, that won't leave you broke and disconnected from the one thing you have to carry you through this life - your body!!
There are life and health affirming alternatives that cost ZERO DOLLARS!
