I was visiting from out of town and had the opportunity to train at the Academy of Jiu-Jitsu Scottsdale. From the moment I arrived, everyone was extremely welcoming and made me feel right at home. The facility was immaculate and clearly very well cared for.I had the pleasure of taking a class taught by Instructor Brandon. He was incredibly detailed and technical in his instruction, while making everything easy to understand. I really enjoyed the class and the overall atmosphere of the academy. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent instruction and a welcoming place to train. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in Scottsdale!

Coaches at AJJS are extremely patient, knowledgeable, professional and courteous. We love having our littles in the kids' program!! They have learned so much and absolutely love coming to class. I would recommend this specific program to ALL parents with littles. They learn discipline, respect, kindness and gratitude along with ways to survive tough circumstances. They learn how to de-escalate, and get out of sticky situations, while gaining confidence in themselves and their skills. The class is structured to be fun, while learning, and is absolutely amazing. Thank you, to all the coaches, for creating a safe and healthy environment of instruction for our littles. We appreciate you!!The hubby and I are enrolled in the fundamentals and advanced classes. It's not your regular, run of the mill, Jiu Jitsu school. The instructors go into every detail and encourage smart training so that nobody gets hurt. They want you to come back and keep learning. You aren't thrown into the ring, as a beginner, and made to fend for yourself. You are given very clear instructions, encouraged to go slow, give each other feedback and to stay safe.In addition, I am also enrolled in Women Empowered. LADIES: THIS CLASS IS NECESSARY FOR ALL OF US!!! PLEASE come check it out! I can't stress enough, how necessary, the knowledge this class offers us! I wish I had learned about this sooner in my life, it could have made a big difference. It is the most supportive environment with amazing ladies.The level of instruction here is phenomenal. Patience, clarity, thorough explanations and an incredibly knowledgeable staff.Update: this place is better than ever. If you've ever thought about trying jiu jitsu, or contemplated coming in to watch a class, this is the place to try!! There are new instructors, Brandon, Nate, and Lety, who have recently joined the crew and they're amazing. This school just seems to get better, the longer we are here. All of the instructors are patient, kind and professional.

Our 6-year-old son has been attending the Academy of Jiu-Jitsu Scottsdale, and we couldn’t be any happier with our experience. From day one, the owner (Darin) and the entire coaching staff have been incredibly welcoming, professional, patient, and genuinely invested in every child’s success. 👍🏼The coaches do an outstanding job of teaching not only the fundamentals of jiu-jitsu, but also the importance of respect, discipline, confidence, and perseverance. They have an amazing ability to connect with young children, keeping the classes structured, engaging, and fun —> while ensuring each student feels encouraged and supported. ❤️As parents, it’s reassuring to know our son is learning valuable life skills in such a positive/safe (and respectful) environment. We’ve seen tremendous growth/confidence in our son (both on and off the mats).If you’re looking for an exceptional place for your child to learn jiu-jitsu (and build character), I cannot recommend Academy of Jiu-Jitsu Scottsdale highly enough. The instructors here are amazing!!! They are patient and explain and demonstrate in ways that make it easy to learn. They focus on safety and techniques rather than speed.
