Kim (and her mum Helen) were amazing with our elderly cat today when he was booked in for his 1st grooming session. Ronnie was already stressed by the time we got to New Mills from Glossop as he doesn’t travel well in the car. He had a lot of matting to his long fur due to him not grooming as well as he used to. One hour later and we came back to a very chilled out fluffy looking cat, matting gone, claws clipped and smelling delicious. And as a result of being pampered, he was so chilled on the way home he actually fell asleep too!! Thank you so much, we’ll get his next session booked in soon 😻 Less

I cannot recommend Paws enough!!! Neil was the second trainer we’d used and there is just no comparison, he is totally brilliant and has made a huge difference to our dogs. One of our puppies was terribly nervous and vocal any time she saw a dog after being attacked on her first walk. Neil has worked with us and she’s like a different dog! In addition I never thought we’d be able to get them groomed due to the nervousness but wrong again!! I first went to training classes when my puppy was 10 months old. Pip is deaf so Neil had to adapt his training techniques to help us and it really worked well. We returned for the adolescent rascals course, where we learnt even more ways to communicate with each other, having fun as well as behaving appropriately. Update on previous postI have now completed the adolescent rascals course with my springer spaniel puppy at Paws High Peak. Again Neil was fantastic. We learnt so much and this time without the partitions most of the time so the puppies really had to engage with you. The course was great fun and there was a combination of new skills, tricks and toys but all with a purpose such as having your puppy drop the toy and being rewarded, a must for any dog to give up something they maybe shouldn't have. We went over some of the things we had previously learnt in the puppy class and expanded on them. Neil also engages with everyone on a one to one level and addresses any issues you may have with your puppy. I highly recommend Neil.I have recently completed the puppy course with Paws High Peak and cannot thank Neil enough. The premises are excellent and provide personal space for each puppy, the classes are small enabling everyone to ask questions, get extra help and personal attention from Neil. Each task is explained clearly and refreshed throughout the course. After each class Neil sends an e-mail with leaflets on what we have learnt during the class along with tips on how to increase or decrease the level of training for your own puppy in that particular exercise and informs us what we will be learning the following week. In between classes Neil is happy to help with any problems you are having during your practise at home.At the start of the course each person is given a gift bag and at the end of the course a certificate, rosette and another gift bag.I highly recommend Neil and I am looking forward to starting the adolescent class with my puppy soon. We absolutely loved our training with Neil & Ted and the puppy gang!! Ted had the best introduction to classes. We have already booked onto the next stage for adolescents. Having a breed like Ted (GSD) means lots of activity and thinking is needed as they are intelligent and channelling their energy into positive learning is the best way to train them. Neil does a great balance between fun training like ‘watch me’ and ‘middle’ to the more serious and necessary areas such as Stop, Stay and Loose Lead and learning not to react to every noise and movement around them. Neil was helping me train my cocker spaniel puppy we went for the puppy classes.. we learnt sit and down,, settling,, loose lead and recall,, even helped me with crate training my puppy on the best ways helped me correct mistakes,, when I wasn't sure on how much to be feeding my puppy he helped me work it out,, I didn't think my puppy would master recall and loose lead in a month 😀 to the point my 5 year old daughter hold the puppy on walks.. always there even still now my course is over for any questions about training or my puppy health to even behaviour change. I so glad I found neil. His passion in his job makes him brilliant at what he does. Once when think puppy ready we will be looking at other courses with neil for her. My almost two years young puppy was very anxious and fearful, growling, barking, and lounging at unpredictable moments. She was perfectly all right with some other dogs and people, and gone ballistic with others. We joined the 6-week Adolescent Rascals (for 6-18 month olds).Neil explained everything well & came around the class giving tailored advice.Our dog Penny was nervous about being around other dogs, so we were a bit worried about whether she would be OK doing the classes.The class has helped her to be around other dogs & even though she was occasionally distracted, we got an easy to understand email of every thing that we had done in that session & a sneak preview of the next weeks session.Penny managed to do everything taught in class, Neil answered any questions we had & offered tips for what we were doing wrong, which was a big help.I wish we had joined the Paws Puppy Foundation (up to 6 months) too, but have already signed up for 'PAWS Adult IMDT Grades Classes (18 Months Upwards)'. Neil has trained my 10 year old rescue who is reactive to other dogs and I can't believe the improvement over our 6 sessions. We've gone from only walking at night and my dog basically screaming any time he sees a dog 100m away, to now being comfortable in a park full of dogs just metres away! Booked with Kim and felt happy with bringing my 12 week old puppy to her. On arrival we did not feel welcomed and were slightly concerned when the groomer had picked a dog off a table by its two front legs. No stroking of the puppy or interaction. When asked where our puppy would be during the wait for his groom, the groomer replied “on the floor”. Considering our puppy is only 12 weeks, this groomer was expecting us to leave our puppy on the floor with 4 large dogs. We explained we didn’t feel comfortable with this but we’re quickly ushered out of the door and told to have a good day. This is a real shame, as the facilities they have looked great. Just a shame to be worried for the welfare of our puppy. Less

July 23. Just completed our IMDT grade 3 level with Neil Would really recommend these graded classes. The dogs work through each course of increasing difficulty. Includes recall, impulse control and distance command work. The classes are relaxed and fun which seems to work well for the dogs. Neil is a great trainer and definitely understands that one style doesn’t necessarily fit every dog and is helpful in suggesting different ideas to help all the dogs (& owners!) to learn.Just finished our recall training with our very boisterous 7 month lab. Neil is brilliant, very relaxed atmosphere with fantastic facilities. The course even allows opportunities for the dogs to be alongside sheep & horses in the training field. This is a review for the dog field only. I really don't like posting negative reviews but I'm so disappointed and upset at the service we received today I felt I should share our experience.When we arrived today at our prebooked slot we couldn't park in the normal spot. Fair enough they said they were were having some truck deliveries and said about parking on the road. We explained we have a dog reactive dog and so they moved a tractor so we could park as normal. We're local and have been a few times so know they have dogs off lead round the dog field. Ok so far apart from the small dog that was running free and we had to ask them to pick it up as we were worried we'd run it over!A couple of deliveries went up the road. As it's a hot day and our rescue dog is old we decided to leave early after the truck was leaving so we wouldn't be in the way of other deliveries. The truck was pulled up at the portacabin, blocking the drive, fair enough we thought he's having a chat. We waited patiently and he came back to his cab. Two minutes later he was back out of his cab talking to the woman again. We pipped our horn as we thought maybe they'd not noticed us waiting further up the drive. The woman just waved her arm at us and looked like she said something very impolite and then went back into the portacabin with the driver. We had to wait another 20 minutes before we could leave, despite them knowing we were waiting and they were blocking us in.Obviously we won't be returning. As anyone with a large reactive rescue dog knows, it's great to have secure areas for off lead fun and we've been to lots. However if your dog is as reactive as ours after suffering years of abuse before he came to us (we've been working with a behaviourist for over a year and he's much better than he was!) this might not be the field for you. You have to walk your dog up to the field from the parking spot. It's only a short distance but as they have off lead dogs running around, this is a problem for us. The last time we were here a large dog ran up to the field gate which caused our dog to react. All good experience we thought, but after today it's too stressful knowing there might be dogs running free as we walk back to the car, and the bad experience with the woman who we assume is the owner.I understand its a working farm and you were having deliveries and it can be stressful. But why not just book out the slots so you don't have to upset people visiting the field.UPDATE Thanks for your reply Neil. We didn't realise the person who was rude to us and had dogs off lead is not part of your business. This was our main issue so I've updated my review score. Thanks for offer of the refund, but not necessary as field was fine. Less

So we were recommended Neil at Paws high peak by numerous other doggy owners on walks who had used him themselves! We’re so glad we took their recommendations! Neil was fab with Willow and had such a kind and gentle nature with lots of patience! I felt my rescue GSD puppy needed socialisation / basic training classes to make up for her lack of socialisation prior to her adoption.She has been on 3 puppy classes (different trainers) to keep working on her training and socialisation - I can say that Neil is the best trainer I have experienced.He makes the training fun and as real life as it can be, to help you utilise what is learnt, into the real world.He keeps the exercises varied and gives you 1 to 1 time within the classes to help polish training on an exercise, if required.I have a loose lead walking puppy quicker with his training methods :)I will certainly be coming back for more training for fun !!Update - 7 months on and I’m still here - we are going through the graded trainingWe are also having a go at ‘hoopers’ which is great fun and a fun way to have off leash distance control to training - he also lends you equipment to practice at home - would definitely recommend paws for training / fun / socialising. We just completed our puppy training course with our German Shepherd pup Jax with Neil at Paws high peak. I can't praise the course enough, there are a max of 6 pups so you get individual attention and it's not a puppy free for all. There are dividers between each dog so they can concentrate on you. Neil teaches you life skills for you and your dog rather than tricks. It's also inside so protected from the weather! When we first got Jax we were a little overwhelmed but Neil reassured us and now he's doing great. We contacted Neil after we had exhausted all of our options with our rescue St Bernard. Neil was our 3rd behaviourist and I can honestly say he has completely changed our lives. Our dog was fear reactive, but being a very large dog it can be intimidating. Our lab,Teddy has just completed his level 1 scent course and Bronze level training. Neil is a fantastic trainer, making the classes fun but very worthwhile. Teddy has improved loads since starting and loves all the new challenges. Classes are small and held in a safe environment with excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. Have already booked further courses and would definitely recommend paws for anyone wanting a happy well trained dog. Less

We’ve just finished the 6 week recall course with our 2 springers. Neil was really accommodating in adding a place so we could do them both at the same time. If you’re debating whether to complete this course then debate no more. Neil is very realistic and stresses right from the start that no recall I said 100% but I can honestly say that the skills we’ve learnt with them both have improved it immensely. We’ve got 2 very confident and explorative pups and I feel more confident with them coming back when I want them them them too. The set up is great with the ability to train around livestock too. He also gave us some really good advice regarding a couple of other issues we’d have which was really good of him. Loved the course and would go back to Neil again. Following my dog being attacked I was fortunate to get a place working with Neil to get his ( and my ) confidence back. My dog had become disengaged and terrified of every off lead dog to the extent didnt want walks and play with his much loved ball . Neil gave us simple techniques and fabulous advice on how to get both our confidence back . From the first visit to second we put the work in and followed his guidance and i have got my dog much happier and we are continuing working on our confidence . Visited the dog Paddock today and it was wonderful! Nice sized field for my dogs to run and explore in. I have a known escape artist so I always worry about fence security, but after walking the perimeter I was confident letting him off leash and even he couldn’t find a way out :-)All the Dogs had a blast and I enjoyed watching them loving live with the gorgeous hills in the background.Reservering a time slot was very convenient as wel. I moved to Derbyshire with my rescue dog Bay in September 2021. Whilst Bay had improved, she was still very reactive with other dogs. We reached out to Neil after having a few challenging months with our rather exuberant spaniel. He was recommended to us by one of the Paws existing grooming clients. We have done one to one training, scent detection and recall so far. Working on gaining our dogs focus, help with lead walking and try and understand his behaviour a little more, to then reduce his reactivity. We have really enjoyed the classes and get set homework to continue working on the skills learnt in class. It has been really fun, and challenging, but Neil provides a safe environment, where you can learn and work with your dog. The training centre offers a safe space to develop the skills and work with exciting distractions such as sheep and horses safely. We also use the day care Kim offers, and our dog absolutely loves it there. Kim and Neil are experienced and responsible, and they provide a safe space for the dogs to play, chill, and stay. Less

Neil has been helping us with our giddy and excitable cocker spaniel Archie. He's taught is the importance of ensuing Archie has time in his crate in the day so he gets enough sleep, and supported us with helping him learn to heel and be calmer in new and busy places. Neil has a lovely calm manner and teaches you how to teach your dog in a positive way. Booked in a number of sessions with Neil to stop our very excitable English Springer Spaniel pulling on the lead. Neil was always on time, great communication and information, both outside and during the lessons. Neil has a lot of experience and tried a lot of different positive techniques. Paws is just amazing Kim absolutely loves dogs and they seem to love her too. No job to big or to small.She gets the best results with all animals.Would defo recommend Kim for grooming and day care.
