Medellin VIP

Colombia had always been a dream trip for us, but if I’m being honest, Medellín was also a little intimidating to visit. From the second we arrived, Felipe and Taty completely changed that. We felt safe the entire trip without ever feeling sheltered from the real city. Somehow they gave us the best of both worlds: total peace of mind while still letting us experience an authentic Medellín.What really separated them from any other host or tour guide I’ve ever had was how naturally they became part of our group. It never felt like we had some annoying guide following us around rattling off pointless facts. It genuinely felt like we had added another friend to the group — except that friend happened to know every right spot, every right person, and exactly where to go depending on what we wanted to do.Felipe was unbelievable. He was constantly behind the scenes making sure every logistical detail went right so that the rest of us could just enjoy the trip. At one point I realized I had lost my wallet. Normally, that would have completely derailed the night. Felipe somehow tracked down the last car we had been in, confirmed my wallet was inside, went and recovered it, and got it back to me. Meanwhile, the rest of us were able to keep the night going full steam ahead. That story pretty much sums up what having Felipe with you is like.Friday was probably the best example of the type of experience they helped create. We spent the day ATVing around Pablo Escobar’s old property, came back to our Airbnb where private chefs had prepared an incredible dinner — including legitimately the best carpaccio I’ve ever had — and then went out and experienced Medellín nightlife in a way none of us will ever forget. Top to bottom, it was one of the best days of our lives. And Taty is an absolute legend. Genuinely hilarious, insanely cool, and immediately fit in with our group. Our Comuna 13 experience didn’t feel like a tour. It felt like exploring the neighborhood with a friend who knew its history, culture, people, and all the places worth seeing.By the end of the trip, these two weren’t just our host and guide anymore. Felipe and Taty both have an open invitation to my wedding — and honestly, to any wedding from anyone in our group. If you’re on the fence about Colombia, Medellín, or booking with Medellín VIP: just do it. I cannot imagine experiencing the city any other way.
