Marcos Lopez - Rose Lawn & Landscaping

I wanted to put in 3 walkways in my back&side yards. I had purchased the 16" pavers along with the weed barrier, plastic edging, polymeric sand, & rocks/retaining blocks (that I was using for the side yard walkway). I decided since I am now retired I should hire the job out. I had an estimate for $1800 from a different "landscaper" but wanted to get a 2nd estimate. So I contacted Rose Lawn & Landscaping. Marcos convinced me he was an expert on laying pavers. I trusted him so when he gave me a quote (and then came down a little to $3000) I chose to go with him instead. WRONG CHOICE!!!! Multiple problems! 1-Marcos had nothing to do with the work. His brother & brother in law did the job. However, I don't know if this made a difference in the quality. 2-They obviously did not use a level because the walkway definitely has it's uneven ups/downs. 3-Instead of asking me to go to Lowes and get a few replacement pavers, they they used broken ones. 4-They spread the rocks on the side walkway pavers BEFORE putting down the polymeric sand. So MULTIPLE areas just look like cement-you can't see the rocks. 5-They did not use dirt to push the plastic edging against the pavers-they left many gaps up to 1/2" plus between the pavers & edging. These gaps also filled up with the polymeric sand. It looked so bad I ripped out the entire plastic edging and ended up having to buy a few hundred more retaining blocks to put down instead. 6-the few pavers at the bottom of one of my side walkways are so uneven that the polymeric sand split away. I complained to Marcos and asked him to just fix that area and I would complete the other hours of work needed to repair all the other problems. It's been over a week and NO CALL - NOTHING FIXED!!!! BOTTOM LINE.......THIS COMPANY IS NOT EXPERT!!!! I feel they easily owe me half of the $3000 back. My neighbor was going to hire him to do a fence project. HOPEFULLY HE IS NOT GOING TO NOW AFTER THIS MESS WITH THE PAVER JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did these same pavers myself when living in Florida. I definitely did a better job there and now wish I had just done this job myself-especially since I will have to now put in as many hours fixing the problems as I probably would have spent doing the job correctly in the first place!
