As an adult learner I have been undertaking a functional skills level 2 maths course for a number of years; which is required for my current job role and career progression. In October last year I got in contact with Helen and started tuition twice a week with maths tutor Arun, I informed both Helen and Arun about my previous maths experiences and how I felt about maths in general for example, " I can not do maths" or "ever pass the exam". Within the first couple of weeks I started to gain a better understanding of solving maths problems and learnt how to complete questions fully. Arun broke down each question which made it easier for me to understand and explained all information in a clear detailed way. Throughout completing these maths sessions both Helen and Arun have kept up to date with my current progress and supported me with my maths skills and knowledge. I feel that now my maths knowledge and skills are the best they have ever been and can confidently say that I can actually do maths now. On Tuesday this week I was extremely happy to find out that I PASSED my maths exam, and I don't think I would have ever been able to pass this without Arun and Helen's help and support and attending the weekly sessions. Inaya started her 11+ preparation at Easter time. We started very late so we were quite behind with the work. Helen guided us is in order to catch up. I recieved a free introduction lesson for my daughter, which was taken place and completed in the time it took for A Star Tuition to get back to me. When I explained I had found someone else i was told " I could have let them know!" There was no apology for the late response either. I'm sorry but it is not my job to chase them, especially when they could not stick to their plan of contacting me on the same day. Our daughter has been attending lessons with Helen for just over 6 months. We originally started the lessons just to provide a bit of a confidence boost but have carried on because our daughter really enjoys them.
