Shady Door-to-Door Sales ExperienceWe were cold-called about home work and, by chance, because we need some, agreed to a quote the next day (mistake #1). A different company showed up (Tidal Renovations), which was already a red flag. The salesman spent ~30 minutes inspecting, then asked to come inside now with a briefcase he didn’t initially have (mistake #2) and dragged us through a 45+ minute PowerPoint about how “legit” they are instead of giving a quote. Despite repeatedly asking for pricing and our options, he kept deflecting and going on tangents. Even when we said we had to leave soon, he ignored it and continued. Worst part is he always had a story about Mr. And Mrs. So and so who has the same issues we had and how he help fix them. When we FINALLY got to options about our home, he rushed through most of them but went deep in detail on one “special” product that they offer, pulling out jars and devices from the briefcase (mistake #3). I stopped him before he could go any further. At that point, it was clear this was a sales pitch, not a straightforward estimate. I then excused him from our homePrior to leaving, we asked multiple times for a quote via email, but he refused and pushed for another in-person meeting to discuss the estimate. We declined and won’t be working with them.Legit contractors don’t trap you in an hour-long pitch or avoid giving written quotes. This felt like a high-pressure sales tactic, and I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time.
