I made an appointment in Chesapeake for regenerative therapy for knee pain after seeing their advertisement on Facebook. Their nurse discussed it with me generally, and told me the doctor would review my records, and call me 2 business days later to let me know my options; however, they told me I'd do better with their therapy if I lost about 20 pounds, first, and they convinced me to buy their weight loss medicine for $1,600 (and told me insurance wouldn't cover it). The doctor did not call. Nobody called, so after 4 business days, I left a message, but did not get called back. 5 days later, I got a call to pick up my $1600 weight loss medicine that I'd already been charged for, (plus a $50 "convenience fee" since it was put on my credit card), so I made another appointment to review my knee therapy options with the doctor for the knee pain. When I went to the appointment (& it's almost an hour drive for me), I was told the "person" with whom I needed to discuss the knee pain options was not there on Mondays, even though they scheduled the appointment on a Monday. I was again told I would get a call the next day. Nope! Still no call from a doctor or anyone and we're going on a month at this point. I also learned the weight loss medicine they sold me for $1600 only costs $250 at Walmart and $290 at Walgreens. Even if you figure in a charge for the 5 minutes the nurse spent with me explaining how to use the medicine, I was still grossly overcharged for the medicine. AND their response to my review is not true. First, I did not provide any release to permit them to share my private medical records with the general public, which they did in their first inaccurate response to my review (which is now amended to remove the private records since they were unlawfully disclosed). This is a huge red flag about the practice because it's a violation of my health records privacy rights. I brought medical x-rays and medical records to the appointment. Yes, the nurse discussed what they generally offer at their clinic, but advised me the doctor would have to review my records and get back to me about my treatment options. I did not see a medical doctor there nor talk to one EVER. I do not believe they even have a medical doctor there. In their response to my review, they say I met with a doctor. If that's true, I'd sure like to know that doctor's name. Their initial response said treatments options and insurance were discussed with me, which is false. Why would I go there twice if I was not interested in treatment options? I want treatment for my knee pain! I was told I'd get a call to discuss treatment options. The only "options" discussed were how to pay for overly-priced weight loss medicine. They have a credit card you can apply for, pay cash, or by credit card. One of the first things their website says is, "financing and payment plans available." Their initial response to my review said you can't buy the weight loss meds at Walmart without insurance which is also not true. It is available at Walmart and other pharmacies, and it is about $1,000 less if you get it there, whether or not your insurance covers part of the cost. Their response said they tried to call me. I received no messages, emails, texts, nothing.... well, not until after I posted my review. I just feel like I was lured in there with their advertisements for ways to avoid knee replacement surgery, given false promises, sold overly priced medicine, and given the boot. I just want others to be prepared if you go there because it was a very frustrating and expensive experience for me, and a complete waste of my time. Less
