We first came across Lollie Claire Photography at the Baby Expo while I was pregnant. They were running a “guess the birth weight teddy” competition, and we were told we had won a free photography package. The problem was everything surrounding the so-called “prize.”Although it was advertised as free, we still had to pay a $70 deposit upfront, and if you cancel, do not attend all three shoots, or choose not to continue, you lose that deposit as well as the teddy bear prize. As someone heavily pregnant, needing flexibility should not have been a big ask, yet when I needed to reschedule the first session, communication was frustratingly difficult. There was little empathy, very poor flexibility, and almost no willingness to work with us unless it suited them. It became so stressful that my husband had to step in before we were finally taken seriously.Ironically, for the later shoots they had no problem changing dates and times on their end, while repeatedly texting, chasing confirmations, and creating unnecessary pressure. What also felt misleading was the structure of the “prize.” It was three separate shoots, but only one free image per shoot. At each session they take hundreds of photos, then sit you down to review them — which quickly feels less like a complimentary experience and more like a sales appointment. Once you’ve seen beautiful images of your pregnancy, newborn, and baby milestones, you’re naturally emotionally invested, and that’s when the upsell begins. The additional image pricing was shocking, with single photos around $250 each. So while technically you do receive one image per session, the whole competition felt more like a lead-generation tactic designed to bring expecting families in, build emotional attachment to the photos, and then rely on premium upselling. In the end, it didn’t feel like we had truly won anything. The misleading “free” promotion, strict deposit conditions, expensive upsell structure, and poor customer service made the overall experience incredibly disappointing. That said, to be fair, the photographers themselves were wonderful. The images were genuinely beautiful, and both photographers we worked with were talented, warm, and made us feel comfortable during the shoots. The photography quality is absolutely not the issue — it was the booking process, communication, and sales structure that let the experience down.Responding -Thank you for your response. My review was never about whether terms were written down — it was about how difficult and stressful the communication and scheduling process felt, especially while I was heavily pregnant.Policies and records aside, the issue was the lack of flexibility and empathy when I needed to reschedule, despite later changes being made from your side without the same consideration. That contrast is what made the experience so frustrating.I also understand the package structure and optional purchases, however my point remains that the “prize” experience felt far more sales-driven than it was initially presented at the expo. The photographers and final images were beautiful, which I already acknowledged, but beautiful photos do not cancel out a stressful customer service experience.I appreciate your reply, but I stand by my honest experience. x
