We were referred to DogSpeak by our daughter, who used Angie's service with her rescue. Our rescue, Jethro, was great in every way except for being reactive to almost everything--dogs, deer, sounds, vibrations, you name it and he'd bark at it. Our consultation and most of our training sessions were virtual and they worked out great, as did our one in-person session. Jethro is far less reactive and we are far less stressed. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the online class. I found it less stressful for me and my dog to be at home rather than in person. The class nicely combines handouts, videos and individual instruction in one hour in a very efficient and productive way. The instructor was well-prepared and inspiring. The Unleash program has been unbelievable helpful for my reactive puppy Pedro. We learned fun pattern games that we have been able to utilize to help Pedro self regulate in social gatherings, parks, with friends & family. Angie's Control Unleashed class is terrific! Recently my dog Brody and I visited my mother at a hospital-like rehabilitation facility. It was a very windy day, wind whistling loudly through the old windows. My mother was certain Brody would be too scared to visit with such loud noise. Although Brody was initially frightened, I placed his blanket on the floor and began our Control Unleashed "Relax on the Mat" technique. Within a few minutes he was calm and completely unaffected by the howling wind. My mother was calmer too, with Brody by her side. On another visit, Brody remained quietly on the blanket near me even when nurses entered the room. A huge feat for a dog who likes to greet everyone at the door! I really enjoyed the online Control Unleashed class. Control Unleashed is a very effective training method for a variety of "over the top" behaviors that dogs can have. It was recommended to me but I was overwhelmed at the thought of trying to go through the books on my own. I was so glad to find Angie's online class. It gave a good overview of the method. Angie was great about answering our questions and relating it to practical situations in our lives. I'm really impressed with the progress my little guy made during the course. I enjoyed the live in-class discussions. Angie's feedback was very valuable. She is knowledgeable yet kind and gracious. Angie did a great job of explaining the material by having us watch videos, read tutorials, and then demonstrate it, while giving us suggestions to implement what we were learning. I liked that the class was hybrid. The information was introduced on Wednesdays, and she was able to see us practice with our dogs; then on Saturdays, the in-person class allowed for further practice in the context of being outdoors and with other environmental stimuli.
