One of their agent’s Demi Rutherford demanded that I submit an application for a rental home before answering any questions my realtor had about the home. She first asked my Realtor to pay HER the $80 fee in CASH and then she would send me the application via email. One of their agent’s Demi Rutherford demanded that I submit an application for a rental home before answering any questions my realtor had about the home. She first asked my Realtor to pay HER the $80 fee in CASH and then she would send me the application via email. (Which is completely not normal business practice to ask for cash when the entire application and payment is done online via smartmove) once I finally received the application it listed an incorrect address for the home I was applying for. I contacted Demi via text message and she said that this was fine and to proceed. Then she stated THE VERY next day that the home had an offer to purchase and the home is no longer available. She also then admitted to knowing the properties owner had already accepted the purchase offer to my Realtor before I even applied via email when and asked why she didn’t disclose that upfront. She purposely scammed me out of $80 and the “application” Hasn’t even been reviewed (I have time stamped screenshots of the application status) Beware of this agent as she is a complete liar and knowingly scammed me out of money even though her original intention was to pocket the cash she initially asked my agent for. I will be reporting this to the BBB and OCCC. She is just collecting the application fees knowing that the home has already been allegedly sold. If my application was denied this would be a completely different story. The issue here is why make me waste my time touring and then ask us to apply before she would disclose any information on the rental agreement, then spend my hard earned money on a bogus application when she knew at that exact moment the home was sold. How many others have given you cash to apply for this home and then suddenly told it was sold??? I cannot speak to this companies other agents but Demi Rutherford is deceitful and knowingly scammed me out of my money after she couldn’t get cash from my agent. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Less
