Taylor is a genuinely great guy as owner of River Run Angling. His advice, honesty and investment of time he gave me as a Brit travelling at relatively short notice to Nashville then driving up to Bristol was such a good customer experience I want others to know about it! I had no worries over logistics, timings or anything. Taylor even came down for a bite to eat over at the local live music venue on the Saturday - amazing fun. He also kindly gifted me a great River Run truckers cap and Yeti cup too.I did a 2 day float trip on the Watuga with River Run Angling. That right there is some of the most spectacular scenery and nature I've seen in the US - Minks, Ospreys, Deer, Woodpeckers, Musk Rats - it rivalled my float trip on the Colorado River last year in terms of experience and beauty. Very happy.My guide Matt is very talented and has been guiding for 19 years. We were on the Trout super fast, the fish were all a great size. I don't fish all the time and his advice and patience at my lack of mending and hook setting too slow means Matt should probably get some sort of medal or maybe a sainthood lol. Either way I got a lot better. Thank you Matt for your company, patience and laughs.My favorite fish was one that "got away" when I was about to land a 16 inch Rainbow and it got eaten WHOLE by a 40lb Striper. So technically I caught a 40lb Striper (for about 0.005 seconds until the Striper had been "through" the Rainbow, doubled the rod over and snapped the line!).Excellent trip, great team with the best communication and guidance. I can't recommend River Run Angling enough. Great outfit.

My son and I spent a very enjoyable day with Taylor on the Watuga River. Taylor is the real deal, he's the kind of guide you hope to find but rarely do. Fishing with him felt like spending the day with that outdoor buddy everyone wishes they had, the one who actually knows what he's doing! He made the whole trip fun! He's incredibly knowledgeable, easygoing, and clearly loves what he does. We learned a ton, laughed a lot, and came away with some great memories. If you want a guide who can take the river as it comes, keep it fun, and still put you on fish, book with Taylor. I'm already looking at booking another trip...so pull the trigger, get on his calendar!

As an avid outdoorsman. I have fished a bunch. But always hire a guide on rivers i haven't fished. Taylor with River run angling has been the best guide i have had in my lifetime of doing this. I have done 3 trips with him. 2 on the soho and 1 on watauga. All 3 were great. Very knowledgeable. We only got 1 photo because we were catching to many fish and having such a great time. Highly recommend!

Drove over 7 hours to make this trip. I would do it again in a heartbeat and actually plan to do just that sometime in the future. I had never fished for trout before and had no idea how hard they hit and how hard they fight. They are a beautiful fish. I actually think the Brown is prettier than the Rainbow. River Run Angling made this the perfect trip. Taylor was our guide. He knows his stuff. He knew when to fish back through and when it was better to just move on down river. Just a good guy all around. It was a pleasure to get to know him. If you're not from that area, the trip is worth making just for the ride down the river and the beautiful scenery. And I had never seen the type boat we used. They call them drift boats or dory's. I can tell you that it is extremely comfortable and the way the boat is made, It would be pretty hard to fall out of standing up. There are leg supports that you slip your legs into when you're standing. I know it sounds awkward but it is actually one of the coolest things I've seen on a boat. If you're on the fence about doing this trip, do it! And do it with River Run Angling. Taylor did a great job once again and we made some great memories. Caught a lot of fish and a couple big'uns! Once again I highly recommend this outfitter. Taylor goes out of his way to make the trip as good as it can possibly be. My brother already has another trip booked with Taylor for him and his daughter. I will definitely be coming back. Taylor also does Small mouth trips. I may do that next time. Hard choice. Those big browns are beautiful...

Taylor was an awesome guide, delightful, personable, and knowledgeable. I hadn’t been fly fishing in 20 years and he guided me back to enjoying the activity as I remembered. We caught rainbow trout throughout the day. He was very considerate of my dietary needs and provided a tasty lunch. I couldn’t have had a better experience! I highly recommend River Run Angling for a fishing adventure.
