My son is a relatively new starter and although he has done some BJJ previously it really doesn’t compare to what is on offer here. Super welcoming and inclusive classes, catering for all abilities. The coaches have a fantastic rapport with all of the kids and have a genuine passion for what they teach. All of the kids have a great time while learning new skills in a really friendly environment. ... More

This is my take on the SPG Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I joined the club approximately a year ago. Although this probably sounds fairly selfish of me, joining a contact fighting sport has been something I have wanted to do for many years but have never gone through with the idea until now. I love what I have found. Sebastian leads a strong community of individuals from all walks of life. The knowledge imparted each session is top rate and the training environment, although exhausting, is safe and educational. What is also cool is the fact that there are no egos and the more experienced practitioners are happy to share techniques and knowledge with the newer students. This massively improves the learning curve and makes the community feel like family. Starting BJJ isn’t to be taken lightly. It’s rough, you will ache, your fingers will be numb, you will be exhausted for days after. But the satisfaction of surviving a 5 minute round or getting your first submission is amazing. In addition the club offers flexibility to train up to 7 times a week (although I only manage two sessions). I cannot recommend this club enough to anyone considering this sport, I wish I had found it sooner! Less
