Lvl 2 Autistic kiddo's first haircut at 4 with David! We will definitely get our kid's haircuts here again. Here's why:Our kiddo has gotten better with transitions over the years, but not for new, noisy, high sensory places (like a typical barber shop). So here and there we'd look for reviews citing haircuts for autistic kiddos. We were never felt good enough David's name came up enough times for us to schedule.Despite priming the week of we still had a meltdown at Sharkey's. I wanted to bail but everyone gave us time and space. When it was finally time for our cut, David clearly familiar with kiddos on the spectrum. Even though they have such cute chairs our kiddo is familiar with like Cars (from Disney), David pulled chairs together for us so we could sit with our kiddo, hold and comfort him, and carried on with the haircut showing our kiddo all the cool tools. By now our son's meltdown was long gone, curiosity got him, and the experience (which David repeatedly emphasized and cared about for our kiddo) was a positive one. In the end, our son gave David a high five while team members took a photo of him with his first haircut certificate, gave him a huge balloon to hold, and celebrated and praised him. They were super supportive, patient, and just extraordinarily skilled at this because let's face it a haircuts one thing...doing that same haircut with a kiddo on the spectrum is another... Nevertheless they did it. Our kid enjoyed it. And now I'm hoping other families with kiddos on the spectrum find this review (much like we found many others about David and this team here at Sharkey's) and your kiddos have just as good an experience as ours.
