The BEST loco moco I've had and I've tried many in different places on the island. Nothing compares to this. If this one dish is any indication of what their menu is like then I must come here and try every item on the menu. Kolohe Cafe (Kolohe in Hawaiian means trouble maker/ mischievous). Located in the North Shore Kahuku Sugar Mill Food Truck Village. We were going to hit Mike's Huli Chicken like we did last time, once a fantastic Triple D spot, but a look at recent reviews were sadly offputting. This little spot was an amazing gem that opens at 0700am, full menu, mainlander time zone challenged approved - we arrived 0830am! We loved the customer service, excellent food and everything! We will absolutely come back again! Keep up the excellent work! Went to Kolohe Cafe for the first time yesterday. They just had their grand opening last weekend. It was awesome. It is at the Kahuku Sugar Mill with a huge selection of food options. The trailer with its red and white paint scheme stands out and makes it easy to identify from all the other food trucks. The menu looks great and all the food pictures amazing. My friend had the Hamburger Plate and I had the Tonkatsu Plate. The portions were huge and the food was right on! One of my Japanese food favorites is Tonkatsu and this was perfect especially the sauce. The mac salad and rice were on point too!! The truck is owned and operated with all the cooking and serving by Chef Redmond and his wife Miiko. They do an excellent job and Miiko runs all the orders from the truck to the customers waiting - she definitely gets her steps in. The Chef does an excellent job cooking and the food is locally sourced. You can't go wrong coming here!! My only regret as a frequent long term visitor here while working, now visiting in retirement it may be a little while before I can come back and try more of his great food!! Amazing service and even better food. I was working in the area and decided to give this place a try and was not disappointed. I had their breakfast the first time and it was good. However, what you need to get is the loco moco!! One of the workers recommended it and I was very surprised. It's full of flavor and sauce all throughout.
