I am a naturally anxious person, and about 10 years ago I had a very traumatic experience with a dentist in Chicago (her license has since been revoked). This makes dental visits for me pretty tough, and I have been avoiding it for too long. During my visit to Cherrywood Dental, I felt at ease the entire time. Friendly front office staff, calming atmosphere, nice tunes. Dr. Avery especially made me feel so comfortable, explained everything he was doing, made me laugh a few times, and just had such a calming demeanor throughout. I can’t say I’ve ever written a review for a dentist before, but my experience here definitely warranted it. Thank you.

PLEASE READ!!!I waited 5 months to write this review. Initially I thought that this place was worth a try because it was close to my job and fairly easy to make an appointment. Little did I know that coming here would be a pain in my mouth as well as my wallet. Off the bat I can tell you for certain that this practice looks sketchy. The equipment is older than most places and they boast about state of the art equipment, maybe it was back in 2005. Where the dental hygienist work it is basically a make shift quibical made by putting two shelfs adjacent from each other. Surely youd think at the minimum the dentist / hygienist would be good right? NO. Dr. Barzgar came in after the dental assistant took some suspect xrays of my teeth looks at my teeth for all of 10 seconds and says something to his assistant ever so softly and then I am moved back to the waiting area to talk to one of the front desk receptionist. From there I am told that I need a deep clean and am given a 2300 bill. I wasnt told why or explained the reasoning behind it i just was told "thats what the doctor is recommending". At that point I should have just took thier estimate and went somewhere else but against my better judgment I paid and was sent on my way to come back the next day.I came back and they started the procedure, that wasnt being done by the dentist who recommended it but someone ive never met before today. He began the procedure and half way through said we're doing half today because that's what your insurance covers.. Insurance? I paid 2000+ out of pocket yesterday? I explained that to him and was brushed off. Looking back on it i should have flipped out from the lack of transparency and communication but I didn't. I was given a mouth rinse and then was told to come back in 6 weeks for the other side. I was in bad pain for about a week and after speaking to come colleagues I was told that they should have done both sides at once so I called back and spoke to the front desk girl and she admitted that it was a mistake and they were supposed to do it all at once since I was paying out of pocket. So I came back the same day to finish and I got a half ass apology from the doctor. Whatever they did what they had to do and I was sent on my way. Told to come back in 4 weeks for a polish. Cool.I WISH it took 4 weeks for me to come back.. nope. I was back in 5 days. Why? Because during my middle time of cleaning my teeth as they said making sure my gums were healing correctly I started to feel more pain, so I have my wife check my mouth and what does my wife find with an iPhone flash light that these "professionals" couldn't see with xrays and me basically have my mouth wide open for an hour? A cavity.Naturally I call them the next morning pissed off, they tell me to come in and the dental assistant had the nerve to says its not a cavity, they take xrays and guess what they see now? Idiots. So I let them do the filling and im out another $500.00Sometime goes by and I come back for the polishing and I complain that since the filling im having some nerve pain and its brushed off that it will fade. I think at this point im tired of them and they of me.I go somewhere else and im told that the needle they used for the general anesthesia went too far in and hit the nerve so im given some relief meds and the pain subsided after a few weeks.Fast forward after basically being next to Godly with my oral care (mind you my teeth aren't perfect but they aren't so messed up that I needed to go through all this). I go to a REAL dentist with REAL hygienist and get REAL Xrays and have actual conversations and after explaining my situation at cherrywood to now my current dentist im told and SHOWN PROOF via comparing xrays from March to now July that they're "cleaning" was TRASH and I went through another cleaning and then was shown xrays before and after and the results speak for them selves.These people suck at their jobs, from the office staff to the dental assistant to the dentist themselves, trash. Don't spend your money and time here.

My experience with Cherrywood dental is always a positive one. Everyone there has a good disposition and always cheery, which is a rarity in the days of declining customer service quality.
