Not only that but paying $240 for SHOULDER BLADE LENGTH braids is ridiculous. Charging EXTRA for wanting more boho added when I brung the hair is crazy!! Claiming it ‘takes longer’ like girl it takes a few extra seconds to add more boho to one braid and I know because I do hair. They are MONEY HUNGRY and it’s obvious. I get longer braids and boho FULL for $10 more at Divine African Braiding in Dallas but unfortunately they were booked this day. It clear why this shop was almost empty. I also saw a girl sit there for hours unfinished until someone else came to finish her hair… HOURS just sitting there halfway done. Not to mention, the owner talks to people crazy and I had to correct my braiders on my color more than once even though I told them what colors I wanted. The back of my head is a complete different color than the front 🤦🏾‍♀️. My boho also keeps shedding badly and I never had this issue at the other braid shop I said. NEVER GETTING MY MONEY AGAIN!! I thought I found a gem because they are open on Sundays but instead I found an overbooked establishment with no respect for patrons, their time or appointments. As time is moving forward, I’m asking them how much longer, and Yaba tells me they are short 3 girls. I made this appoint at 9:58 AM Sunday morning. If by the time my appointment came, you knew you were short, you should’ve said something so I can make a decision on whether I wanted to wait or not. They then had the nerve to have an attitude. Besides me, there was a man there at 12:30 AM who wasn’t satisfied with his braids or the $80 he had to pay for the poor job. There was also a school-aged girl there who was there when I walked in, and they started her hair around 4:30-4:45 PM and she wasn’t out until after 1 AM. Her mom was upset and rightfully so. I also let Yaba know that I was a first time customer and was not having a good experience and they started to speak in a foreign language so I couldn’t understand what was being said. I’m NEVER going back here and if you value your time and money, I wouldn’t suggest it. I was not satisfied with the outcome of my hair, but again being that it was 1:30 AM, I was just ready to go. This is more of a 3.5 star review. The first time I visited, I have no complaints as I ended up getting small twists. However, my most recent experience didn’t go as good after getting medium sized Senegalese twists and that’s due to lack of communication on both parts. My request was for medium length/medium size twists $210. Initially my hair was done in medium twists/long $240 with extremely small parts which means they were close together and a lot of hair was used on each twist (couldn’t see my scalp). -I have a small head, so this made my head extremely heavy. The braids were so tight and heavy that it literally made me sick and I couldn’t get sleep that night after leaving the shop at 8 pm; (I could feel they were heavy but didn’t get a thorough look until I got home). I tipped 3 of the girls $20 each when I paid (before my hair was finished (won’t do that again because one did only a little bit and then left). While sitting to get my ends dipped, one girl asked why I decided to go with medium, I expressed “to cut down on the takedown process” -I also expressed this in the beginning and I honestly didn’t realize that I needed to tell them to space the braids out, I’m thinking that if you get medium twists, you get medium parts. I braid my own hair and others on occasion, it’s just what I do. Parting small w/too much extension hair causes tension and breakage on the natural hair especially around the edges. I woke up for work the next morning and absolutely could not function; so I called the owner and she was extremely nice/sweet and told me that I could come in to get some of them resized to take the load off. I didn’t realize that the person that I spoke with (who I’m assuming is (I now call her mama Adaja) wasn’t in the shop the previous day, I thought she was another lady. Anyhow, I get in and they tell me to take a seat for resizing and the main person that started my twist the previous day would be with me, they asked if I just wanted the front redone, and I expressed that I wanted the front and the middle redone because it was too heavy. The girl basically redid the front and attempted to ask if what she had done was okay/enough and I started pulling out sections of the middle as well to be redone. Had I gotten up and left, I would’ve missed mama Adaja and still wouldn’t have been happy (still sick). When she came in, she was like a wrecking ball about how heavy my hair was… she was speaking in her language but I could pick up on some of what she was saying. She picked through my hair and explained that the sizes were too much for my head. The girl tried to explain that I didn’t tell her not to put them close together and most folks don’t want their scalp to show; but she wasn’t taking any excuses and went thru the middle of my head and starting cutting braids that needed to bed redone into bigger portions telling her that “three could become one”, and she ended up making the other main girl that was on my head get up and assist because she wasn’t going to help at all. The girls were upset speaking in their language (which is kind of understood because braids are a tedious process). However, professionalism is always expected; I don’t have to speak your language to know that you’re placing blame on me while sitting in your seat. As the stylist, it should’ve been confirmed instead of assuming that I wanted my hair styled based on what others requested in the past. From now on I… - ABSOLUTELY WON’T tip in advance - Make sure that communication is clear about what I want. There was absolutely a break in communication here and some of it was because we couldn’t verbally speak the same language. Little did they know, my hair was done for my birthday. So THANKFULLY, mama Adaja came in and made sure that I left out overall happy and because of this, I may be back. Less

She finally touched my hair, than walked away for another 10 minutes or so. (2) One of the braiders baby was crawling around on the dirty, hair everywhere floor. She was crying and upset. I held her several times. (3) The owner stopped braiding my hair to eat, no worries, but then she left. (4) The braider with the baby began braiding my hair while I held, entertained the baby. Turns out she was teething, so she was fussy. (5) The owner returned and asked me to pay. I was quoted three different prices, so I chose the lowest one. (6) The owner braided my hair for a few minutes then she left, again. (7) Meanwhile the braider with the baby continued, stopping frequently to care for her child. She finally said something to the other braiders and she left. I waited and waited and waited. Finally a braider came over and finished. Once again, life happens, the above things didn’t bother me. What bothered me, my knotless braids are three different sizes!!! Some are large box braid size and some are tiny knotless braids. I am very displeased. I have the Zelle receipt.
