We had a fantastic stay at Mediwake Bungalow in the charming town of Udadumbara that really exceeded our expectations. The hosts Jay and Shamil were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond by serving us delicious tea, drinks, dinner, and breakfast, and sharing all kinds of stories and advice. We also enjoyed a nice walk through the picturesque village to a waterfall.The room was spacious and stylish, extremely clean, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We highly recommend visiting this beautiful mountainous area if you’re looking for an authentic Sri Lankan village experience away from the crowds, combined with truly comfortable and luxurious accommodation.

What a absolutely fantastic, soothing, relaxing and blissful time we had at Mediwake Bungalow. Could not have asked for more. Three days of quality family time, beating the Colombo heat, embracing nature in its abundance with beautiful mountain view, majestic trees and a beautifully done garden. The cozy feel, impeccably unique decor, true SriLankan hospitality not withstanding our late demands for coffee/tea etc, we felt truely pampered.Dont missout on a visit to the streamand campsite should you love a hike and a bit of adventure. It was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and it was so easy to coordinate all nitty gritties with the lovely hosts Jayogi & Shamil both of whom always went out of the way to make us feel truly special. These two are hosts that passionately enjoys hosting and loves what they do. Make sure you ask for their custom made curd and ice cream. Thank you Jayogi, Shamil and Bandara for making our holiday truely memorable. We plan to visit again for sure.

素晴らしい宿でした！長らくスリランカに住んでいますが、ウダドゥンバラという小さな街にこんな素敵なホテルがあることに、まず驚き！オーナー夫妻のセンスが素晴らしく、アンティークのデコレーションとか、ミントグリーンと白に統一された家具、ファブリック類の色使いやチョイスがすごく洗練されています。あと可愛い人懐こいワンコ🐶が２匹います。下にある離れの方はベッドルームから絶景が望めます。食事もすごく美味しくて、辛いのが苦手な人用にも特別に別のおかず用意してくれたり…。ランカに10年近く住んでいますが、私のランカ史上ベスト3に入る宿でした！

Stayed for two nights with my wife and it was indeed a lovely experience. Rooms are well maintained and clean. We booked on FB basis and food was delicious and more than enough for 2. Views were great and we enjoyed staying on the view point mostly… town is walking distance from the place and it was very convenient for us.

Spent 3 absolutely wonderful nights at Mediwake Bungalow. The entire property is very well kept, clean, tidy, and peaceful. We were very comfortable throughout our stay.The caretaker, Nihal, and the chef, Herath, took care of everything, and went out of their way to make sure that we were well looked after. The food was brilliant, especially the home-style rice and curry.The owner, Shamil, also checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed, and arranged a local guide as well because we wanted to hike.The bungalow is also well located if you are someone who is interested in hiking, and there are a lot of treks in close proximity.We will definitely be back, and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Me and all of us in our family had an amazing time here. The interior and exterior is creatively designed, pleasing to the eye and mind. Facilities are very comfortable and really good hospitality. Not only the property, but we got to travel around surrounding also, which was good added experience. They have a nice campsite down the river, if you want to get close to the nature and enjoy.The owners made sure we had all that experience properly, a very big thank to them :)

Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained.The caretakers were incredibly hospitable, and the owners went above and beyond to make our stay special—even personally showing us nearby attractions, which was such a thoughtful touch. The location is perfect, just a short walk from Ududumbara Junction, making it very convenient for travelers.The food was absolutely delicious with a well-curated menu, and we appreciated the option of a bar on-site. We also loved the three friendly dogs who were clean and well-behaved—they added to the warm, homely atmosphere.There’s plenty to explore around the area, including scenic hikes, waterfalls, water streams, and village tours. We have just spent 4 days in the Mediwake Bungalow. It was a fantastic stay in a beautifully designed and decorated villa. The owner and the staff made our stay memorable and perfect to relax. The area is close to the city, the villa offers trips and discovery of the area. Dietary need were easily accommodated and the food was very tasty! In the evening you could read a book or watch some tv. Thank you.

This was our second visit to this lovely bungalow and we were not one bit disappointed as we spent a wonderful and relaxing two days. The bungalow is very well maintained and very clean. The staff are extremely helpful and hospitable. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable by ensuring all our needs were met . The food is excellent with every meal being delicious.The highlight of the stay was the drive to Mini Worlds End coordinated and arranged by the owners. The scenery was breathtaking.The climate was very pleasant and not humid .Wonderful place to relax and definitely looking forward to visiting again.

The hospitality at Mediwake Bungalow is unheard of today.  Even before arriving, the host, Jay, was in communication and arranging a complementary dinner upon my arrival (which was then extended to my driver, who had a long drive back). Indeed, I truly felt seen and cared for long before arriving.Especially appreciated is how the owners respect and enjoy nature so please expect and accept the occasional natural visitors inherent in such environments; not just the insects, but everything from the monkeys to the mongoose and 3 resident dogs who are excellent company.I was fortunate enough to have the co-host in attendance at my arrival and was treated to a personalized tour of many of the local sites. These included spectacular mountain views,  the 18 bends drive, the legendary man-made lake, waterfalls, some local history, a temple visit with offering,  and even feeding the temple elephant (which is evidently an uncommon treat). This was an unreal adventure of a lifetime, for which I am truly gratefulThe pictures of the property can not relay the attention to detail or the radiant atmosphere. My stay was a full month, and cleaning and upgrading seemed to be always happening. The friendly staff are very attentive without being intrusive, and the food and service are top notch.Bring so impressed with the hosts and the property,  I have already made arrangements to come for a long stay again in the new year.As I could go on and on, we will wrap this up with a sincere thank you to the hosts for making my trip so memorable.

Mediwake bungalow is the jewel of Udadumbara. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as I felt I went back in time. We loved our stay, wonderful hosts, fantastic food, serene and peaceful, we sat on the deck for hours undisturbed, the deck has a lovely blowing, upcycled decor large rooms and bathrooms, close to pallekelle stadium. Beautiful walks with breath taking sceneries.My 83 year old mum, my 16 year old daughter, my husband and I loved the place definitely a place we will go to again in December when we come back on vacation.Rescue dogs the highlight they are absolutely cute and keep you so entertained. As dog lovers we thoroughly enjoyed the 3 friendly dogs on site.Highly recommended for a quiet and relaxed vacation.

This was our second stay at this enchanting property. Over four nights, we relished a serene vacation, escaping the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by lush greenery ,my family and I experienced a wonderfully peaceful staycation. The property itself is impeccably maintained and kept exceptionally clean. Our hosts pampered us with delicious meals, including a memorable BBQ night. One of my favorite moments was enjoying tea overlooking the mountains. During our stay, we enjoyed bathing in the nearby stream, exploring winding trails, discovering waterfalls. Shamil and Jayogi, our gracious hosts, the owners of this property, were incredibly warm and accommodating, and the staff ensured our comfort throughout our entire stay.

A beautiful property with exceptional service that surpassed all my expectations. Conveniently located, the bungalow was a perfect base for exploring the area.  The property itself, the food, and the service were top-notch. The windswept garden offered a breathtaking view of the Dumbara mountains.  The bungalow is well-equipped, clean and tastefully decorated.  The room we occupied was just right in every way possible. Excellent quality bedding and comfortable mattress.  The bathroom was large with a great shower; plenty of hot water and superb water pressure.The veranda had soft music while we had our delicious meals.  Overall, my stay was fantastic! A definite recommendation for anyone looking to go off the beaten path in the Knukles, Dumbara and Hungasigiriya areas.

Our host was very friendly and helpful with all the arrangements during our stay. He was really committed to ensure all the arrangements were in orders and went out of the way to help us out for our excursions during the stay. The property was clean and spotless as one could expect and the entire arrangement in the rooms as well as the common areas were really cozy and relaxing. The linens were fresh and it appeared that the host takes great pride in maintaining the property in top condition. The staff were really helpful in all aspects and the customized food served was amazing. There is a nicely built up bar area, which is a nice place for a group gathering. I highly recommend this property to anyone who is considering a stay in this area, which also can be used as a base to cover the Knuckles, Ududumbara and Hunnasgiriya area.
