When I was a kid, I watched Only the Strong and thought capoeira looked incredible. I never imagined that years later I’d actually find myself living a version of that experience.I first joined this class back when they were in Waterford Lakes, but life pulled me away for a while. I came back this January, and it reminded me how much I missed it. Capoeira has taught me a lot, not just physically, but mentally too. I’m still learning Portuguese, still learning the movements, and definitely learning that my 42-year-old knees aren’t invincible anymore.I recently injured my knee and have to sit out for a month, but the moment I’m cleared, I’ll be back. The energy, the people, and the environment here make you want to keep growing. My goal now is to keep earning cords and eventually become a teacher myself. If you’ve been thinking about trying capoeira, stop overthinking it and just show up. Every age and skill level is welcome, and you might surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.Hopefully I’ll see you in class.- Aranha
