I’m extremely disappointed with Calphin Swim Academy. They advertise classes and collect tuition, but in our experience the class repeatedly did not run as expected. Despite paying for the program, we were left waiting without receiving the service we signed up for.What makes this even more frustrating is their refund policy. When the classes were not being provided, I asked for a refund, but was told that the payment could only be converted into account credit rather than refunded to the original payment method. I find it completely unreasonable to keep a customer’s money when the service they paid for is not actually being delivered.The communication and handling of this situation have been incredibly frustrating. I would strongly recommend that parents read the cancellation and refund policy very carefully before enrolling and paying upfront. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this swim school.

We’ve been with Calphin for just one quarter, and we’ve already seen more improvement than we did after a full year at another very popular swim school in the area. The coaches are more experienced and consistent, and the flexibility to easily reschedule lessons has been a huge plus.

Instructors are great here at Calphin!! Classes are structured and all instructors focus on techniques and always make sure that Kids follow proper techniques.

great athmosphere for learning how to swim, coaches are professional and really serious with the coaching. money well spent if you want your kids to learn how to swim and mostly if they want to be competitive swimmers

We have been calphin swimmers for almost 8 years and have put 2 kids thru the swim class... My son even ended up working for them for a short time as an instructor. They are fair, firm with the kids and produce results... Persist with the kids that are struggling. The credit goes to the instructors and the management team to make sure the system here works smoothly.

My son has been going there for few years now. The coach and staff are very friendly and makes swimming very fun for the kids. I will highly recommend.

Edit/update: After waiting for 7 or more days, this is to update ; I have not received the refund as promised in your reply!!—————————————————Calphin management has withheld my 250$ refund from the time they closed Calphin, Newark starting September 2025. They are not ready to release funds even though one of the staff confirmedthey will write check to me. It’s been Long chase and they are trying to make money with these dirty tricks.Are they any other parent who’s in same situation Or is able to get refund from Calphin management?It’s surely untrusted swim academy and not recommended to any parent/child as coaches are equally unprofessional.

Calphin swim academy has been under renovation and has been shutdown. Rather than returning the money, they kept it with them and are refusing to refund it with no line of sight.This is a very shady practice, renovations etc. are not surprises and Calphin cannot place us hostage with the money. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PRACTICE

Outdoor swimming at AHS has been chaotic. The instructors for Glider were changed, and the two high school girls teaching the class have not even asked the Glider 2 students to practice breaststroke during these past few weeks. They mostly chat among themselves after every round while the kids wait for instructions.
