I called Jose to get my hair braided since she previously braided my hair about a year prior. We chatted about what I wanted done - shoulder length boho box braids - size medium. I ask her if she’s still located at the same place as last year and she tells me she moved and where she is now. I get there at my appointment time and ask for her because I don’t see her but there are a number of other ... More

I called Jose to get my hair braided since she previously braided my hair about a year prior. We chatted about what I wanted done - shoulder length boho box braids - size medium. I ask her if she’s still located at the same place as last year and she tells me she moved and where she is now. I get there at my appointment time and ask for her because I don’t see her but there are a number of other braiders. I ask for her and one says she is not there but how can they help me. I told them I’m here for shoulder length box braids, medium in size. Several of the braiders begin parting and braiding my hair. I explain to leave the nape of my hair out to the two that were working on my head at the time. They nod as if to say, “ok”, yet they continue braiding. As the time goes on, and they are nearing the end of braiding my hair, I confirm with the braider that I initially spoke to when I entered the shop, if my hair is going to be shoulder length because I noticed it was pass my shoulders. She hurriedly says yes and continues on with what she is doing. I asked her because she appeared to be the only person onsite that spoke and understood the English language. The Braider a rolled my ends and dunked them in the hot water, passed me the mirror and asked how I liked my hair. I told them this is not what I asked for. I asked for shoulder length. One of the braiders immediately got on the phone with who I believe was Jose. Thereafter, one braider came over and used regular cutting scissors and began cutting the braids shoulder length on one side. She then goes back to braid another clients hair so I tried to even the other side that was longer. I was extremely upset and disappointed. I paid them and left. I called Jose to share my disappointment and she was extremely unhelpful. She asked what amount of money would I like back and I told her. It wasn’t even half of what I paid. I felt that was fair because the braiders worked but they did not give me the service I asked for. Jose refused to give me any money back and only wanted me to come back in so they could fix it the following day. I refused and asked her why she asked me for a dollar amount that I felt would be reasonable to me. Her response was, “to see where your head is at.” I will never ever return to this braider or the shop. I think it’s poor business practices, greed, and very sad that this is how Jose Is operating her business. She clearly needed the money so I blessed her that day indirectly. Following up from owners response: Jose the Braider in your shop is who cut the braids ON ONE SIDE badly and failed to even both sides out. If you, the young lady that spoke and understood the English language in the shop and the braiders that braided my hair provided the service I asked for, this review could have been very different. Your lack of communication in 1) advising me that you would not be braiding my hair when I called to schedule the appointment, 2) you communicated to those braiding my hair what I asked for, and, 3) your willingness to resolve the mishap and take responsibility (as you never apologized until today in your response to my review) is a true reflection on how you are as a business woman. Again, I would never refer anyone to get services from your shop or you ever again. Less
