I started working with Anna in July 2023. I have been in and around gyms since I was 13 and have a background in fitness myself. I have trained with several trainers, and my goals have never really changed – focus on increasing strength, health, and to do a photoshoot, and do a body building competition. I have always been drawn to the sport of body building and I always wanted to do a competition, but I have just never gotten there with my physique. And I sincerely thought “everyone else has the magic bullet / recipe” and despite all my hard work, I am just not “one of those people”. I turned 40 this year and I also wondered if it was because I was getting old.
I had ‘known’ of Anna for a long time, as I was an avid reader of Oxygen and when I was training at a previous studio, I first met her there. While it was only a brief introduction, the first that struck me was she was (and is) lovely. Secondly, she has an incredibly figure only achieved through dedication and a phenomenal work ethic.
This year after training and nutrition had plateaued, I knew I needed a change. And I thought “train with the person who inspires you”, train with Anna. I contacted her and reminded her of our very brief meeting, and she remembered me. I went to her studio in Kew (which is kitted out with absolutely everything you can need) and we sat down to chat. I told her of my frustrations and desire to improve across a number of areas, what I was doing was not working, that I was willing to work hard, and that I just didn’t feel my best. I showed Anna my programs and diet, saying for all my hard work, I just don’t seem to be getting anywhere or seeing changes. She simply said we are going to set a goal, start from a clean slate and begin today.
Since that day, I have lost 11.6 kilos in 3 months! This has been achieved by a customised nutrition plan that is very easy to follow and specific to me, the introduction of supplements, and my training program. Anna’s knows the female body better than any trainer I have encountered and understands how small adjustments or changes can better suit YOUR body. Through overhauling my movement patterns, I am hitting PB’s in nearly every exercise. My meals are satisfying, and even include pasta and chocolate! I am not hungry or deprived. Her knowledge is exceptional, and I have and continue to learn so much from her. She is also organised, efficient, precise, detailed orientated, incredibly kind and inspiring.
With Anna’s unconditional help, guidance, and support, I am feeling the best I ever have felt and the strongest. While I am still very much a ‘work in progress’ (I WILL get to do at least one unassisted chin up!), if this is what I can achieve in 3 months, I can not wait to see what we can do in the next year and beyond. And maybe, just maybe, through hard work, I can finally be one of ‘those people’ and who knows I might do a body building competition.
Trying to sum up what working with Anna means is a question for me that while simple, has so much heart, soul and meaning. It is giving me back my confidence. It has shown me that I am not old, and that I can continue to be anything, achieve anything, and do anything. It has bought me back to me, and made me better. And because of this, I’m able to lead and live a better life.
We all have that one thing, that one thing that gets us excited, sparks a light, makes us feel empowered, strong, capable. That is what it is like working with Anna – everything is possible.
