I contemplated canceling my shoot so many times due to being extremely nervous, I kept thinking I needed to lose more weight and tone and I thought I was going to hate doing my session because I was going to look ridiculous. I enjoyed working with Karen every step of the way. Speaking to her and explaining the reason I decided to do boudoir for my first shoot EVER up to the day of my photoshoot. I had forgotten about my self for the past few years, to the point where I didn’t recognize myself in the mirror or liked what I saw. My body had changed for many different reasons and what better way to except myself and start my self love journey than boudoir. It all started by me joining her group and engaging in her posts. The more I saw her work the more convinced I was that she would be the right photographer for me. The energy and vibe she gives off in her posts, is the same energy and vibe you get in person. As much as I hate being photographed, she gave me guidance and confidence every step of the way. Also, don't let me forget her awesome makeup and hairstylist, Ebony. She asked what look I was going for but I had nothing in mine and I did look but found nothing that caught my attention. I just asked that she do what she thought was best and that if we would get in the tub that we not put heat in ny hair. Ebony did not disappoint, especially because I don't use makeup and I didn’t feel like it was too over the top. Also, the product that she used felt very light and creamy. I could go on and on about the team present that day but what matters most is that I felt like I had known them all my life because of how welcoming they all were and the conversations we had. Many women are self conscious about themselves, especially about their bodies. I am one of those women. Though I’m a person who is considered to be social, and free spirited, I’m very private.I had contemplated doing a boudoir session before, but I never felt comfortable with my body. Every time I stared at the reflection in the mirror, I saw imperfections staring back. So I waited. Waited for when I built the discipline to work out, to eat healthy, and to achieve the flat belly all women strive to have. It never happened. My little muffin top goes wherever I go, and I made peace with this fact. I decided it just wasn’t for me.Finally, something told me to join Karen’s FB group The Goddess Experience Boudoir, and I’m glad I did. I realized it was a space filled with body positive messages and Karen’s beautiful shots which made me reconsider my position. Maybe, just maybe I said. So I built up the courage to reach out and I booked my session.I’m glad I did. Never would I ever think I would feel comfortable walking lingerie in front of anyone, but Karen provided a safe environment and plenty of encouragement. She even accommodated a special request for a shoot with involved gold paint and gold leaf which was messy, but so beautiful. When I saw my photos, I was in shock. Is this me? I looked stunning, she captured the angles that accentuated the parts of me I ignored because I was always too focused on the imperfections. The photos were breathtaking, I can’t stop myself from pulling them up and proudly say, yep that’s me.The investment is completely worth it! Though these were originally a present for my hubby, I now see them as a present for myself. Everyone out there has an inner Goddess.
