We had a tour scheduled to see if this would work for daycare. We showed up and were completely ignored for over 5 minutes while waiting by the front door. There is a giant glass window so they could very obviously see we were there and we also rang the doorbell. After waiting for some time a staff member left and I let them know we had a scheduled daycare tour. Once we entered the door one of the staff members told me I should have rang the doorbell. I let her know that we did ring the doorbell. And then she proceeded to tell me that obviously the kids were loud so that’s why they didn’t hear it. It shouldn’t have mattered because they could have used their eyes to see the front entrance. If you can’t pay attention to the front door and the staff is rude to potential new families you don’t deserve to run a daycare. The city needs to come shut this place down. I would never send my child to a place where safety and security are clearly not a priority. Less

The educators are patient, kind, and always take the time to communicate with parents, providing updates on progress, milestones, and any special moments. I love that they encourage curiosity and creativity, while also focusing on building essential social and emotional skills. My child has grown so much since attending, both academically and socially, and I am confident that Step Ahead is laying the foundation for their future success. Pulled my daughter out because the director of the center tried to cover up an incident recently where an infant was chewing on a pill package. There were pills inside, and they were wet. When I learned of the incident, I called and asked why we hadn't been informed, as they don't have cameras and it's unknown whether any other infants had been exposed to the pills. Pulled my daughter out because the director of the center tried to cover up an incident recently where an infant was chewing on a pill package. There were pills inside, and they were wet. When I learned of the incident, I called and asked why we hadn't been informed, as they don't have cameras and it's unknown whether any other infants had been exposed to the pills. The director expressed it was confidential (which I expressly disagreed with) and assured me she had already spoken to the boy's mom and notified state. But DHHS and the boy's mom confirmed this was a lie - the director only reached out to them after I called, and failed to mention the pills were in the child's mouth. We had other problems with the center - my daughter wet through her clothes on several occasions, despite the charts saying they had changed her less than an hour prior. When we confronted the problem, the charts remained the same but the problem stopped, which leads us to believe they were lying on the chart. When we got her bottles back, they were slimy, and we had to throw them all away - I cannot believe she was drinking out of those. I'm angry and disheartened. I thought I was doing well for my daughter, now I know better. To other parents reading this - stay clear from here. I don't think this is the end of problems for this center, this is just the beginning. Less

I don't even know really where to begin. My daughter *was* going to A Step Ahead Bellevue for the last 9mo, but we have since removed her this week. There were many concerning moments involving the care of our daughter. We had reported these issues hoping for things to get better. 1. When my husband went to pick her up, 2 different times she was found to be soaked in a diaper full of urine. It was dripping wet. The workers there had charted that they completed diaper changes on her. But it was evident that they hadn't done so for many hours for her diaper to be that soaked. 2. We had heard issues with health and sanitation. Many that were not being address properly and still haven't been. Sinks in the baby room were deemed unusable due to piping issues causing water to flood the room. Workers had to go to the bathroom to wash their hands after diaper changes. Leaving them from their posts of caring for the babies as well as posing an infection control risk for all children and staff. Baby bottles were not being cleaned properly and timely. Nipples not being labeled properly and sorted for the children they belonged to - causing many nipples to be shared amongst the infants. Mold was found in the bottle warmer, and when they would warm bottles up, the bottles would float in the water exposed to the mold. 3. There was an incident with a pill package being left on the floor, causing a baby to chew on it. There was no notification to the parents, or any parents, that an incident occured and was being properly investigated. No reassurance from the director that things were being handled. No policies being shared on safety of medications. Blame was placed on parents going in and out of the facility. This incident occured midday, where the workers in the infant room should have been vigilant on items on the floor that babies could put in their mouths. The director Megan didn't properly notify parents. When I brought this to her attention she lied saying she notified family. But then called the worker there that day to write an incident report a week later. Now dealing with it after we had brought it up. I want them to know I called DHHS and do hope they do a full investigation. They don't have cameras in their facility to investigate extreme safety hazards like this. And they clearly didn't take the safety of this baby or all babies in the room seriously. I can't trust that they aren't hiding anything else. I don't trust them any longer for the care of our daughter. Which saddens me. I hope they learn from these incidents and can better their policies, procedures, and safety in their building. I hope they do this right away for the safety of all children. I would caution sending your child there. Less

He is SO smart, speaks so well and he genuinely gets so excited to go to “school” every morning. He was a Velcro baby for the first four months, which I loved but was worried for when I returned to work, and this daycare took excellent care of him and helped him adjust to the new way of life. He is now 8 months and loves going every morning. He has made many friends and socializes with the other babies and learned a lot by watching the older toddlers. His teachers all love on him and spend time teaching him age appropriate activities. He has bloomed beautifully with their guidance and attention. I am so grateful for these ladies and all the help they are able to provide us in our parenting journey. They are kind and supportive, very knowledgeable and gentle ladies. It was very hard for me to trust anyone with my precious tiny baby but they put me at ease and have shown they are fully equipped and ready to care for our little one with love and attentiveness. This is the first child care facility that my kiddos have gone to and I was very apprehensive, we all have heard horror stories of facilities and in home. Deb the director and staff have become part of my front row, my village. My kiddos love going to daycare and I truly feel the staff genuinely love their job and all the kids they care for. I have been impressed from the initial tour to current which has been almost 2 months. I love their APP that they send pictures, videos, and updates throughout the day. I was impressed that all though they have cameras in the facility they are not utilized for a live stream. I feel as a parent you should be able to trust who is taking care of your children and not need to log into a live stream. I love how all staff is CPR certified and have training completed before personnel are placed into the facility to care for the children. Everyone is background checked and fingerprinted. They have a code to enter and exit the facility. If someone other then the normal person picks your children up they do ask for ID. This place seems like home and it is comforting to this momma! I had to remove her due to her being treated unfairly by a teacher who put in timeout for more than 5 minutes. And when I asked for a reason, I never got one but what I got was they unenrolled my child and could no longer send messages to ask why my child was in timeout for so long and why she’s never getting snacks when everyone around her is. Apparently the kids are supposed to get their own snacks and if they don’t get up, the teachers assume they don’t want a snack. AND BY THE WAY THAT THE “OWNER” is RESPONDING TO THESE REVIEWS BY PARENTS SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THEY WILL PLACE BLAME ON ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES. NO ACCOUNTABILITY. Less

They appear to be short staffed. The teacher's are normally rushed trying to get things done. The director is very rude and needs more people skills. She will yell at you from across the center if she feels like it. she will also try to dictate the hrs you bring your child if your self employed. I would like to take the time to point out that this facility does not meet state requirements. I had a little over a week to be employed with this center. The first day I started I was very concerned with the way it is ran. I saw that the cribs did not meet DHHS requirements of being exactly 3 feet apart from each other. I would like to take the time to point out that this facility does not meet state requirements. I had a little over a week to be employed with this center. The first day I started I was very concerned with the way it is ran. I saw that the cribs did not meet DHHS requirements of being exactly 3 feet apart from each other. Babies bottles were being propped up while laying on the floor. That is also a DHHS violation if the infant is under 18 months. Bottles were not labeled with the infants name and the breast milk was not labeled with the child's name or dates. Baby food was also used for a child and then gets left out on the counter for several hours, then is re-fed to the child. There were infants sleeping in swings with their bottles proped up. There also were items in the cribs and DHHS regulations states that the only thing in the cribs were to be the baby swaddlers. This center also is not up to date with their employee hours. State requires every employee in the daycare setting to have a minimum of state required hours. The week of being hired they never asked me for my state hours or my CPR or First aid. They also hired me on the spot without filing my background check a few days of employment. Less
