Back in July of 2022 we had a nice visit with the owner Dennis. Who like all the companies we had spoken with, made several promises.
First, we would be getting qualifying air conditioning unit/furnace, thermostat, and water heater, that would get us full rebates through Idaho Power and Intermountain Gas. Qualifying meaning 98% efficiency from all of those products.
Next, they could complete installation the same week. As a matter of fact, it would be done just a few days from the meeting.
Third, they guaranteed all their labor and the equipment also had about the same warranty as all the other companies we got quotes from.
We signed the contract and they came 2 days later to tear out our old water heater, air conditioning unit, furnace and thermostat, and installed all new ones.
The installation did not go as planned from their end. They left us with a leaky water heater, and constant issues with the system not keeping up in the heat. We also found that the furnace did not have a filter or an area for one. Dennis himself came 3-4 days later solving the missing filter, and water heater leak, while also discovered that his crew wired the new thermostat incorrectly, so he fixed that too. While Dennis was here working on the water heater, he made a mess of the wall behind it and put a metal plate up to hide the hole he created. Also, he cut a hole in our new furnace to get a filter installed, which got placed in an area that makes it difficult to change filters.
Once he left, we had all kinds of issues with the air unit still not keeping up. They sent another technician (Jarod) back a few days later to find that the furnace fan was not working correctly, so that had to be fixed. Even after that we still suffered issues with the unit being constantly 5-7 degrees or more behind, and they never were able to tell us what was happening.
As it turns out, my husband worked with the smart thermostat and has figured out what they were not able to.
As of today's update (11/28/2022), this company is working to fix issues with their install relayed to them by the City of Meridian found upon inspection, so that the installation passes inspection and we can qualify for rebates on our new equipment. Waiting for Dennis to ask the City of Meridian for a new inspection since they fixed all the issues in the initial inspection.
As of today's update (12/2/2022), because we have been unable to get a response from Dennis or the company, I had a conversation with the City of Meridian which has unfortunately yielded some not so good news...It appears that no permits were pulled before the installations occurred back in July, so now Boise Valley Heating & Air has penalties to pay before a re-inspection can be scheduled. Also of interest... they never actually pulled a permit for the water heater installation at all, which also has to be done, and penalties paid before the re-inspection can happen as well. Of greater concern here is that we are being told by Intermountain Gas that we only have until 12/29/2022 to get all permits resolved, a passing inspections from the City of Meridian, then start all over again on our rebate applications.
As of today (1/4/2023) Our time for qualifying for rebates has passed. Still Boise Valley Heating & Air has not paid for the water heater permit or the penalty and has not paid the penalty for not pulling the air/furnace permit prior to installation. We have tried emails, texts and phone calls with no success.
We did file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau over 10 days ago, and in speaking with them this morning, they too are getting no response from Dennis or Boise Valley Heating and Air.
We now do not qualify for rebates and it was found by Idaho Power that subpar components were installed bringing the overall Seer Rating down to 13, which also negates a full rebate, and makes our system not the 96% efficiency that we asked be installed.
