Brightside Dental

I had braces with Brightside, and my teeth straightened in just one month. I was very happy with the quick results, but now, two years after removing the braces, two of my teeth have died because they were moved too quickly (this was confirmed by two separate dentists, one from another practice and one from UCL). Treating the dead teeth will cost me £700 per tooth.Furthermore, when I removed the braces, I repeatedly told the dentist at Brightside that the retainer I was given didn’t leave my teeth in the correct position, as I couldn’t bite properly. However, I was told that, despite how I felt, my teeth were in the correct position. It seemed like my upper and lower jaws had been straightened without taking my bite into account. The bite was so misaligned that my upper canine had to be blunted because it was hitting the lower tooth. I didn’t want to do this, but I was told it was the only option to solve the problem, so I agreed in the end.I was then given another retainer, but the bite issue persisted. Since my teeth were straight and the red paper test showed that both the upper and lower teeth were making contact, the dentist implied that I was being overly fussy and there was nothing more he could do.Over the past two years, I have worn the retainer during the night, but as soon as I remove it, my teeth instantly shift because my bite is still not aligned properly. Worried that this constant shifting might cause other teeth to die, I explained the problem to my new dentist. After showing them the retainer, they confirmed that although the retainer is straight, if my teeth move so much, it means the bite is incorrect. They explained that it’s not good for my teeth to be constantly moving, as the bone will never settle. As a result, I now need to get a new retainer, costing £300, which will keep my teeth straight—not as straight as the old retainer, but in the correct bite position. Overall, having braces with Brightside has cost me over a thousand pounds more than expected and resulted in two dead teeth.I understand that treatments can go wrong even when the dentist is brilliant, but it’s up to the dentist to regulate the strength of the braces. I believe that, in my case, these issues could have been prevented if the braces had been adjusted more carefully, allowing my teeth to move more slowly. I didn’t feel very listened to at the time, but I trusted the dentist because he was the expert. However, after all the issues I’ve had since then, I’m starting to believe that the dental treatment I received at Brightside wasn’t great.ADDITION: after reading my review, I was contacted and offered a new retainer for free. Very kind. Let's hope now my teeth will stop moving.
