I contacted Mays Tree Service for a quote a few months back. In addition to the quote, Richard also sent me his proof of insurance. He was by far the best value of all quotes I received and he did the best job out of all others I have seen done in my neighborhood. He constantly communicated with me leading up to the appt including the day of, updating me of his arrival time. He did a remarkable job taking out a tall sweetgum tree in a tight space including stump grinding. He left the place looking better than he found it, and even washed the driveway. I've had May's tree service come out to my house on two separate occasions and both times they were great! I think I had a total of 28 trees removed. Their prices were lower than all the other quotes I got and Richard the owner was very accommodating as I had some special requests that were difficult. In the process of renovating the natural landscape behind our home, a hickory grove which contain(ed) 47 native hardwoods, we discovered two 60-70 foot trees which, because of disease, endangered our home and also prevented access for emergency vehicles. We contacted Richard, who visited us to study the trees and describe methods for their removal which would pose no threat to our house. When asked about several of the remaining trees on our property, Richard took care to evaluate each, describing its state of health and any dangers it might pose. Ultimately, we asked Richard remove four large diseased and/or dying hardwoods and one massive oak limb slung perilously above a planting shed. Over a period of days, Richard and his crews dispatched and removed these, as well as a number of stumps which were cut, at his suggestion, to a depth 5 inches deeper than the standard 6-inch depth, in order that replacement trees could be planted immediately over these. I will have lifelong memories of Richard in his hard hat and chainsaw, tethered precariously some 70 feet above the ground while preparing to section a tall red oak. Today, our house is significantly more attractive for the highly skilled removal of these trees, and at one-third to one-half of the price put forward by other tree removal companies. Richard himself is a force of nature, a former logger and west coast firefighter who over the course of his endeavors has broken every bone in his body, though it does not show. He carefully rigs each of the trees he removes to protect people, pets, and adjacent trees, and he will not gaff any tree that is not to be cut.
