When I finally decided it was time to replace my deck, I knew I had a bit of a project ahead of me. Several boards had rotted through completely, and I was starting to worry about safety. The railing wasn’t much better; it felt loose. I take a lot of pride in my home, and the deck had become something I was embarrassed by.I went online and started looking for some help. We found OCD Building & Remodeling, Inc (Alex - Owner) via Google search to request a bid for a full ~600 sq ft deck replacement @ our 54 yr old home on Wolf Lake (Mich). Alex offered to drive up and review the requested SoW with us. At initial bid, OCD wasn’t the least expensive of the 3, but there was something about his communication, his personality, and knowledge that helped us move forward and award this project to OCD.1st day on site, during demo of existing deck, Alex discovered some wood rot and compromised structural integrity of the foundation of this uniquely designed home. The communication, professionalism, listening skills, flexibility, and incredible building knowledge helped us make a decision to move forward with an exploratory process to understand the depth of the structural issues.Alex communicated options extremely well and helped guide us to awarding OCD an extensive structural modification to the entire front (lake facing) of the home. As he collaborated with his resources (a structural engineering PE, county building officials, and the owner), Alex created a plan, leading his team to a spectacular and creative rebuild. This project included an entirely new 28’ front wall, a portion of the side walls, all new floor joists, custom glass, (2) 8’ sliding doors, etc. We were so pleased with his work that we extended Change Orders to include all new windows, sliding doors, etc.We are 100% satisfied with OCD’s quality of construction, communication, focus on details, execution of the plan, incredible and creative attitude, engagement on a timely basis with the owner, fair pricing, and an emphasis of quality everything…absolutely no shortcuts!This owner will give OCD highest of compliments for completion to our satisfaction!
