I have been having lessons with Micheal for just over a year now and all I can say is how much of a fantastic teacher he is, to the point where I see him more of a friend than a tutor. His approach to technique and feeling is amazing which has brought out a different side to the way I approach certain pieces.I recently just passed my grade 3 ABRSM with a distinction and I would not have been able to do it without him.I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to find a passion from the instrument. I have been having lessons with Michael for just over 6 months now, and the improvement in my progression over this time has been really impressive. I had never had online lessons before, but I have found them to be really valuable, as Michael has various camera setups to allow me to see playing techniques from different angles, which I can refer back to after the lessons.Michael has a superb ear and a deep knowledge of different styles of music, which is really important to me as I like to play a wide variety of repertoire. As my playing has improved, his impeccable ability to pick up on smaller details to improve my pieces has been invaluable. This has meant that I have been able to transform pieces from playing them reasonably well to making them sound really quite impressive - an achievement I didn't think I could reach at my current level.Michael has great knowledge of playing techniques and some really novel ways of making practicing enjoyable, from using different fun metronome beats to help with getting complicated rhythms right, to devising small exercises to perfect passages, with very clear instruction on how to practice them effectively and find what works best for me.Michael is also incredibly encouraging when it comes to moving on to new pieces that I thought might be beyond me. I cannot wait to see how much more progress I can make with him as my teacher.

Michael's expertise and teaching have broadened my perspective in music. He demonstrated the art of wrist movement, phrasing, listening and many more. Those skills allowed me to transfigure a basic sheet music into something animated (full of emotions)

Michael is an amazing teacher... He not only teaches me the music but the story it tells and the emotion it should be played with. He has, what I would call, unique and extremely effective teaching techniques and ways. He is also very patient and kind when teaching and never gets frustrated which is really helpful when trying to understand something difficult.

Michael is an excellent teacher, I was very proud to achieve a distinction for my grade 8 under his tuition. Lessons are engaging and inspiring with new ideas and technical challenges explored each week. Michael is an experienced performer and clearly very knowledgeable - along with his enthusiastic and encouraging approach I found the lessons really enjoyable - highly recommended!

I would highly recommend Michael as an advanced level piano teacher.He prepared me thoroughly for my Grade 8 piano exam, helping me to achieve the Distinction I was aiming for.The combination of in-person and online lessons has worked well around my busy Sixth Form schedule.I like how he incorporates music theory and advanced techniques into his practical lessons making them easier to grasp.I am inspired by his piano playing and the performance skills he taught me have proven invaluable.Oscar H - August 2023
